Injuries rock Cheetahs
7 Oct 2006
The Cheetahs’ semi-final victory against the Sharks was marred by injuries to three key players.
Flyhalf Willem de Waal, centre JW Jonker and wing Gavin Passons all left the field injured and could miss the final against the Bulls.
“They all have a 50/50 chance of playing next weekend,” said coach Rassie Erasmus. “Losing them today disrupted our backline quite a lot and that’s probably why we had such a tough second half.”
Erasmus has able replacements in Meyer Bosman, Gaffie du Toit and Eddie Fredericks, but will be hoping for as little disruption as possible to his starting XV.
The Cheetahs will meet the Bulls in a Currie Cup final for the third consecutive season, and Erasmus is expecting another brutal clash.
“The Bulls are firing at the right time and we won’t be able to relax against them [like we did in the second half today],” he said. “We haven’t really thought about what surprises we’ll have in store for them – the preparation will only start tomorrow [Sunday].”
Cheetahs captain Ollie le Roux said home ground advantage would play a major role next weekend.
“We’ll have a sea of orange flags here for the final, which will give us a huge boost,” he said. “It’s great to be in the final and we’re 80 minutes away from another Currie Cup title. This is what you play for … the chance to showcase your talents in a big game in front of the whole country.”
Meanwhile, Sharks captain Warren Britz was at a loss to explain his side’s eighth consecutive defeat to the Cheetahs.
“If I knew what was wrong, then we wouldn’t have lost today,” he said. “The Cheetahs are a very good, structured side. We were half asleep in the first half and to trail 24-0 was devastating.”

The best one dimensional try was the HOTTie witwarm sn.

Kom ons hou dit so, my maat.

Luke Watson was the biggest disappointment this weekend… except of course if never bought Keo’s sugar coated reporting on him

Hoekom?
Cheetahs gaan nie dieselfde balbesit he nie.

Jurgens 98
Where the hell did that bit of crassness come from?
The one thing I didn’t say last week was that the Bulls were one dimensional. In fact I reckoned they were looking dangerous and should win.
I did complain about the thuggish tactics of Lobberts and JP Nel which was not something I was alone in.
What happened, did you get your ***** caught in your zip this morning?

my team is in the finals..thats what happpened
Jurgens wat rook jy of drink jy nogsteeds?
8 Oct 2006, 10:17 am
The Bulls are in the finals because they are allowed to play of the ball. Yesterday the ref told them to stop and that he wasn’t going to talk to them again, guess what the incompetant fool had to talk to the Bulls three more times!!!

I hate to think how you’d react if they weren’t.

Re David
I remember us complaining about the “thuggery” of Lobberts and JP, and I also recollect David being a little bit too complimentary, to my liking, about the Bulls being the “in” team at the moment! I don’t recall him talking about you guys being one-dimentional.
You are not perhaps confusing him with ‘DavidS’.

What a kak, vrot, blou, blatjang, peri peri peper pO#s of a ref, fortuin should be hung drawn and quartered, along with his liitle flag carrying buddy. Sorry kids and ladies but the ref was an inept moron.
As for the Cheetahs well played, superb ruggers and I think the Cheetahs are going to go a notch up and be unbeatable next weekend…

Pieterman, okay okay, was getting worried….you sounded a bit like JC Fortuin there at post 126…Just kidding
8 Oct 2006, 10:57 am
The sharks was outplayed by the ref and touch judge. Those tries cheatahs scored so freely was forward. I really feel for you sharkies. Its never nice to lose a game where the ref and touch judge wanna steal the show.
I had a good laugh at the wp supporter that chucked his wp jersey away. Come guys your team didnt play poorly … its just Bulls played better cos there springboks back in the team.
Revenge will belong to the Bulls!!
8 Oct 2006, 10:59 am
Drunkm, ‘looks at the scoreboard’….
8 Oct 2006, 11:04 am
I hear that Rassies lights has nothing to do with the game. Apparently they are there for the afterparty, you Bloem guys must think that it is a real treat to have a jol with lights and all!!!
8 Oct 2006, 11:05 am
to those that didn’t see the game:
the cheetahs outplayed the sharks in the first 35 minutes of the game. the sharks wasn’t worthy to be on the same field of play in those first 35 minutes. the cheetahs protected their ball incredibly well. they cleaned out the rucks with deadly precision and that frustrated the sharks in using all kinds of off the ball tactics. they got what they deserved from jc fortuin.
if you were listening on rsg, you would probably think the cheetahs weren’t in the game in the second half. the fact is that the sharks threw the ball aroung alot, but with no effect. the fact that they scored their only try in the second half from a 13-man lineout speaks for itself. they couldn’t breach the cheetahs’ defence and just don’t have the same class as the cheetahs.
when willem and ollie went off, the cheetahs did lose some of their rythm.
in retrospect, i think it was a very good thing that the cheetahs played two tougher games leading into the play-offs. they murdered the sharks in the first half and the sharks looked like rabbits caught in headlights; they just didn’t know what hit them.
8 Oct 2006, 11:09 am
drunkm
to some of the sad sore loser shark supporters your comments would make sense, but to the millions of rugby followers that saw the game, it’s just brainless rubbish. are you sure you saw the game?
8 Oct 2006, 11:10 am
Drunkmonkey
What Springboks? There were only 3 in Spies, Ndugane and Olivier. Olivier didn’t make any impression other than on the ref and Spies is still too new to the Boks to be considered a returning Bok.
WP were disorganised with more enthusiasm than structure and the Bulls throttled our backline.
I hope we learnt a few lessons in defeat.
8 Oct 2006, 11:10 am
To the Bulls management, team and supporters who are you getting to officiate this weekend?
Here is an idea, why don’t you get Mills “lets get it on” Lane, that way all that punching and of the ball stuff can get you some points too!!
The touch judges should be Steve Hofmeyer (in a Bulls babe outfit) and Marius Jonker.
8 Oct 2006, 11:10 am
GCC, you actually give a better report of the game than all the Sunday morning newspapers in SA. Sweet and short and very to the point – well said.
8 Oct 2006, 11:15 am
GCC you ignorant fool, why don’t you get of your high horse and go and watch the game again? If you need assistance with your vcr I will gladly provide it.
