Songezo to manage Boks

Former SA Rugby Pty Ltd managing director Songezo Nayo is on a short-list of two to be made Springbok manager.

If Nayo is appointed it will be the most postive management appointment made since Jake White took over as Bok coach in 2004.

Standing in Nayo’s way is former Transkei player Liston Ntshongwana, who was nominated by the Sports Minister Makhenkesi Stofile.

The Boks have not had a team manager this year after Arthob Petersen parted ways with White and the Boks.

Nayo would be an excellent choice. He has all the strengths required of a national manager. He has worked in the administration, has a healthy relationship with White, is very highly respected in the government and sporting circles and is very articulate.

White has already introduced Steve McIntyre as his strength coach. The Cape Town-based McIntyre replaces Mark Steele, who left the Boks at the beginning of the international season and was not replaced.

The Sunday Times reported that White met McIntyre by chance a month ago and the next day offered him the Bok job. You decide if that’s a good or bad thing.

I think that the best person for bok manager is Keo. We need a good manager experienced in the art of spin and it would give Keo exposure to material for his second book.

    very articulate,
explain the word please, as Afrikaans speaking person i dont know why thats relevant or maybe i mis the meaning of the word

  • 6.pieterman: Reply to this comment

So they ‘..met by chance and the next day (he) offered him the Bok job…’

They don’t come cheaper than that, do they?

How much does he get paid, or didn’t they have time to discuss such a minor detail?

because nayo is black, keo had to mention the word articulate.
if it was a white guy he would not have mentioned the word ‘articulate’

  • 15.wilfred: Reply to this comment

    it is like reading.
    he’s black BUT very clever.

  • 16.Pik Steal: Reply to this comment

Wilfred, what word would Keo have used if he was coloured?

  • 17.wilfred: Reply to this comment

    pik steal
    he’s coloured but very HONEST.

  • 18.keepin_it_real: Reply to this comment

14- that was very articulately expressed wilfred

  • 19.wilfred: Reply to this comment

    he’s white but not racist.
some of his best friends are black.

Wilfred, I see…..sounds fair….and if he was Indian?

  • 21.keepin_it_real: Reply to this comment

wilfred- i think you are looking to deep here. been articulate is a very important part of the springbok managers’ job. he will also be required to speak to the press and we all know how many embarrassing errors have been made by white and his assistants in this regard.

  • 22.wilfred: Reply to this comment

he’s indian but doing it for the love of rugby.(no hidden agenda’s)

  • 23.keepin_it_real: Reply to this comment

    Wilfred & Pik Steal,
You’re in an articulate form. I mean your humour is very articulated. Didn’t laugh better for a good while…

    Keepin it real,
That “iraqian” line did my whole afternoon. But what if he was a pommy?

  • 31.Dooster: Reply to this comment

    Keo
I sort of missed the bit that so clearly and articulately identified the benefit the new man would bring that we’d missed all season?

    Winning?

  • 34.wilfred: Reply to this comment

    ‘ respected in goverment circles’
    does that mean he,s corrupt?

  • 35.superBul: Reply to this comment

    Wifred you said it

  • 36.Pik Steal: Reply to this comment

Wilfred, Yes….But only because he is black. If he was white Keo would have said “Govt is satisfied he has a positive attitude towards transformation.”

  • 37.Jannesvdm: Reply to this comment

  • 38.wilfred: Reply to this comment

    jannesv
ek dink songezo sal fantasties wees.
1.weet jy wat ek nie weet nie?
    of
2.is sy kleur nie goed genoeg nie?

  • 39.Jannesvdm: Reply to this comment

  • 40.wilfred: Reply to this comment

    jannes

  • 41.Pik Steal: Reply to this comment

Is Jake ‘n goeie afrigter volgens jou?

  • 42.Jannesvdm: Reply to this comment

Well waarheid te se ek was toe ok net ‘n kind toe appartheid geuindig het en ja dit was verkeerd toe dit net whites only was wanneer dit met werk te kom. Wilfred jy is seker ok reg dis net my opinie elke persoon sien elke ding anders.

  • 43.Pik Steal: Reply to this comment

  • 44.Pik Steal: Reply to this comment

Jannesv. Ek bedoel: Jannes dankie vir jou post.

  • 45.Pik Steal: Reply to this comment

    Wilfred net so logies daar.

  • 46.wilfred: Reply to this comment

    p.k
as n speler was naas goed. as n persoon was hy tevore soos joos. maar die laaste paar jaar het hy baie verander en kom voor as n beter persoon.

  • 47.Pik Steal: Reply to this comment

  • 48.Ig: Reply to this comment

I think it would be a good appointment – he was involved in a period where SA rugbys admin was probably at its best. He knows the environment and is well aware of the poltics of the PC and the goverment.

Waar kom Nayo en Ntshongwana vandaan..?

Het nog nooit van hulle gehoor nie..!

Is hulle pelle van min. Makhenkesi Stofile..?
