Bulls butter-up Kaplan

The Vodacom Blue Bulls insist they have no problem with Jonathan Kaplan blowing the Absa Currie Cup final in Bloemfontein.

Kaplan was blamed by many in Bulls circles for costing them last year’s final at Loftus. While a number of his decisions were questioned after the game, it was his yellow card against Bryan Habana that received the most attention. The Cheetahs fought their way back into the game while the winger was off the field, going on to lift the trophy.

Predictably, however, the Bulls say they are pleased with Kaplan’s appointment for the rematch in Bloem.

Kaplan will be assisted along the touchlines by the two referees who handled the two semi-finals, Marius Jonker and JC Fortuin. Shaun Veldsman will be the TMO.

“Kaplan has been our referee only once this year [against the Pumas] and we spoke to him beforehand and have a good relationship with him,” Bulls coach Pote Human told the Pretoria News on Tuesday. “He is South Africa’s No 1 referee and we simply need to ensure our discipline is right on the day. After all, he can only ref what he sees on the field.”

  • 3. KoosReply to this comment :

    Hahaha davo, you said it!

  • 4. HoopsReply to this comment :

I bet the bulls would just love to have Marius jonker or Martin Lawrence for the ref….not happening!!!!

  • 5. pietermanReply to this comment :

    Hello Koos

  • 6. ciccinoReply to this comment :

Kaplan was the third wors ref this season in front of Manuels and Roos. He was out of form and havily critisized though the whole S14, internationals and didn’t well in the CC. But his reputation won him final. In my view the best was that young ref if i’m correct his name was Jubert.

  • 8. KoosReply to this comment :

Vet weet ciccino, it must be the worst feeling ’slukking gal’ for 12 months?!

  • 9. pietermanReply to this comment :

KEO – Could we please have some news from the Bok “camp”. How is their fitness, conditioning going? How are the injuries? How is Schalk coming along? After the announcement of the squad when do they get together? When do they fly out? etc etc?

  • 14. KingPaulReply to this comment :

    Hoekom blaas Tappe nie??? hehehe
Pieterman, Burger en Delport is seker die 2 windgatste jong vleuels in die land. Maar dan is hulle ook 2 van die min bleek gesigte wat nog vleuel speel. LOL. SAVE THE WHITE WING!!!

  • 15. pietermanReply to this comment :

    Hello KP
Sowaar, nog nie so daaraan gedink nie.

  • 16. KingPaulReply to this comment :

Ja man, ek het nogal n paar ouens ‘opgeline’ gehad om my parkeerplek en boom vir die braai oop te hou daar agter die skoolveld.
Ou Jinx is net so teleurgesteld en GBS wou afvlieg. Maar nouja…anderdag.
Sal laat weet wanneer ek in SA aanland.

  • 21. RedCardReply to this comment :

Still dont understand why the Bulls blame him, he didn’t bump du Preez and Roets out of the way when they messed up the high ball?

  • 22. Steyn The Blue BullReply to this comment :

How do you know when you’r a WP Supporter.

When you mow your lawn and you find a car!!!!!!!!!!

  • 23. ciccinoReply to this comment :

I blame him for letting Drotzke to ref the game.

  • 24. GCCReply to this comment :

    ciccino = suurgat

  • 25. pietermanReply to this comment :

    Hello Steyntjie en GCC.

Lekker Saterdag vir ons WP manne om te geniet. Raai wie gaan ons ondersteun?

  • 26. capebullReply to this comment :

Naka played Kaplan like a violin. He’s biggest mistake last year was he should have sent off a Bull and a Cheetsa player early in the match.

He was inconsistent in sending off Habana but not the FS wing for the same offense.

He should stop Cheetsa’s from rotating props every ten minutes, like they did on Saturday again.

  • 27. ciccinoReply to this comment :

    GCC = qutoq

  • 28. capebullReply to this comment :

Pieterman hoekom raai ,ons weet mos net ons , die bulls ondersteuners, ondersteun die Bulls…

Dit pla ons min dat julle ons nie support nie.

  • 29. katmanReply to this comment :

ciccino, please check – I think someone has swopped some of your keyboard’s keys around. Your typing seems a little random this morning.

  • 30. ciccinoReply to this comment :

    Katman,
Qutoq is a word in uzbek my mothertoung. This is an answear to GCC who refered to me in a africaans that I don’t understand. I tryed tolet him feel the same.

  • 31. ciccinoReply to this comment :

tryed to make him feel the same

  • 32. DrunkmonkeyReply to this comment :

Kaplan was last years hero for Cheatahs. The cheatahs players kept telling kaplan what to do … he had no control over the game whatsoever and clearly was influenced by the cheatah players.

The bulls was on there way to another curriecup victory when sudenly kaplan started handing out yellow cards and penalties. Giving habana his first ever yellow card.

  • 33. folankeReply to this comment :

The BB are a bunch of bully losers, and when they cannot bully they cannot win, simple as that, and like all bullies they fold when anyone actually stands up to them…and that is mainly WHY Freestate will and MUST win, so that justice can be served and righteousness restored to our national game, which is run by losers for losers…only Freestate can save SA rugby…VIVA Cheetahs !!!!

  • 34. pietermanReply to this comment :

    capebull

  • 35. katmanReply to this comment :

Drunkmonkey – what a load of, er…. bull. If Roetsie and Fourie had taken care of the high kick, the bulls might very well have won. But they fucked it up. And paid the price. They were beaten fair and square. And it’s ungracious moaning such as yours that makes most posters here wish for another Cheetahs victory.

  • 36. pietermanReply to this comment :

Se hom katman, die manne se geheues is kort, hulle onthou net die telling en nie hoekom nie.

  • 37. katmanReply to this comment :

Ja pieterman, dis makliker om vir Kaplan te blameer as vir hulle geliefde boys in blou.

  • 38. folankeReply to this comment :

Last year we took the koppie playing with a fully U21 team against a full strenght bok or boks-to-be BB team…and still won…this should tell all BB supporters to get the hankies allready ready…

  • 39. KEAReply to this comment :

Geluk vir die Bulls (vs WP), die beste span op die dag het gewen, met die help van die lugdruk, die middag afskop, die ref, die linesmanne, en die home field. hehe, ooh en Melck saam met hulle blou bul steaks.

  • 40. capebullReply to this comment :

Pieterman , ek dink dit is makliker om Lotto te wen as om te raai vir wie jy skreeu,

    Ek bly ‘n Bul

  • 41. DrunkmonkeyReply to this comment :

I expect the cheatahs to tell kaplan what to do like last year. Lets see if kaplan is MAN enough to ref this game fairly and not be dictated by a bunch of cheaters.

  • 42. capebullReply to this comment :

Froulanke. ja soos FS teen Cruasders 65-0 ons is op die regte pad ja.

  • 43. 4KleurReply to this comment :

    Kaplan ken net 3 woorde:
    LEAVE IT BLUE

  • 44. folankeReply to this comment :

Mooi man mooi…BB wanna-be supporters are allready hensopping…

  • 45. katmanReply to this comment :

All these bullyboys already writing their own obituaries and it’s only Tuesday. Sies tog.

  • 46. DrunkmonkeyReply to this comment :

katie en pieter … onthou net daai driee het gekom NADAT Habana afgestuur was. Selfs die rugby komentators het dit bevraag. Ja anders sou die Klomp cheatars nooit gewen het nie.

  • 47. DrunkmonkeyReply to this comment :

    4kleur jy is reg

  • 48. keepin_it_realReply to this comment :

i’d love to hear the bulls reaction if fortuin was ref on sat

  • 49. capebullReply to this comment :

Dit sal Saterdag 31 jaar terug wees dat Piere Spies se pa die wen drie vir Bulls teen Fs gedruk het. Dit is Saterdag Spies se eerste eindstryd.

Steve Strydom oorhandig Vrydagaand die bal waarmee sy pa die drie gedruk het op ‘n funksie aan Piere.

    Hier kom moeilikheid Cheetsa’s

  • 50. folankeReply to this comment :

The main reason why the BB are despised is their negative BAD rugby, which with the dirty play has dragged all SA rugby down for a decade, now with the Freestate on the up and set to take control all SA supporters can slowly regain pride and confidence in the national team, albeit only after the coming world cup fiasco…
