Bulls butter-up Kaplan

The Vodacom Blue Bulls insist they have no problem with Jonathan Kaplan blowing the Absa Currie Cup final in Bloemfontein.

Kaplan was blamed by many in Bulls circles for costing them last year’s final at Loftus. While a number of his decisions were questioned after the game, it was his yellow card against Bryan Habana that received the most attention. The Cheetahs fought their way back into the game while the winger was off the field, going on to lift the trophy.

Predictably, however, the Bulls say they are pleased with Kaplan’s appointment for the rematch in Bloem.

Kaplan will be assisted along the touchlines by the two referees who handled the two semi-finals, Marius Jonker and JC Fortuin. Shaun Veldsman will be the TMO.

“Kaplan has been our referee only once this year [against the Pumas] and we spoke to him beforehand and have a good relationship with him,” Bulls coach Pote Human told the Pretoria News on Tuesday. “He is South Africa’s No 1 referee and we simply need to ensure our discipline is right on the day. After all, he can only ref what he sees on the field.”

fortuin not good. I believe Jubert was the best SA ref this year.

  • 54. PissAntReply to this comment :

Nee my fok man, waar is blueblood? Ten minste was sy vendetta’s teen Kaplan moer snaaks.

And as if Habana has done anything worthwhile on the field in the last year anycase, he is anonymous as is – no real loss you enjoyed when he was carded.

  • 56. Meneer CheetahReply to this comment :

Ek dink die bull ondersteuners het op hul knieë gegaan toe hulle **** Kaplan blaas. Nou het hulle `n verskoning as hulle verloor!

  • 57. william shakespeareReply to this comment :

I hope Kaplan sorts out Jannie and Ollie – the 2 dirtiest players in SA rugby.

No doubt Ollie will be whinging about everything to Kaplan, pointing fingers all over the place. Rassie is very smart and has instructed his players to do that all the time, putting pressure on Kaplan to hand out yellow cards.

We will have to see if he falls for that again. Last year he did. This year I hope we can get a fair deal. A fair deal is all I am asking for.

  • 59. Meneer CheetahReply to this comment :

    Hi Staat

  • 60. folankeReply to this comment :

BB are dirty…they cannot play winning rugby…

  • 61. DavidReply to this comment :

It’s rather sad that the only province that the rest of the country consistently complains about, regarding dirty play, is the one whose supporters consistently blame the ref for blowing them up.
To be honest, if the ref blew for every Bulls infringement for off the ball incidents the game would probably run another 40 mins overtime for stoppages.

  • 62. BlueBloodReply to this comment :

The message SA Rugby is sending here is clear: the Cheetahs must win the CC again. It may be because they feel public interest will be lost if the Blue Bulls win the CC.

There is an even smaller chance of the Blue Bulls winning the CC now.

kaplan hates the Blue Bulls and he hates the Waratahs. Last year the Blue Bulls lost three games and all three were reffed by kaplan. What is the Waratahs record now ? 11 losses in 12 games reffed ?

kaplan was obviously bullied at school and he now sees the Blue Bulls as “bullies” and it is of course payback time. It is his way of getting revenge on the bullies who tormented him at school. It is a psycological problem and must be dealt with by a professional. These childhood issues must first be resolved before he can ref a game again.

Hopefully this year he will see the Cheetahs punching the Blue Bulls players from the first whistle, and not ignore it until a Blue Bull retaliates.

Hopefully this year he will take note of the oustretched arm of the linesman who saw jannie du plessis coming in from the side and punching a prone Blue Bull player. After a couple of minutes of being ignored by kaplan the linesman dropped his flag!

Hopefully this year a Blue Bulls player won’t get a yellow card for a legal tackle. I can just imagine kaplan thinking to himself “come on i’m itching to give a Blue Bulls player a yellow, wheres my chance? wheres my gap ? ahh theres Habana”

kaplan is 100% cheetah biased. Of this there is no doubt. Only if the Blue Bulls play their best game in the last 5 years could they win the CC, and even then it would take a lot of luck.

Bad news this for the BB.

the only losers here is you. 2 CC’s in a HUNDRED AND TEN years of excistence!!! hahahaah!!!

even the griekwas have won more CC’s than the FS. thus the griekwas are a greater team throuh history than FS. FS ranks about 6th of all the unions in history…

  • 66. StaatReply to this comment :

MC, jong SAA het my ‘n pampoen in die hol gerol.

GEEN plek beskikbaar, nie eers via Johannesburg.

Die ouens wat vir my ‘n kaartjie + blyplek gekry het, kan ek ook nie heeltyd aan die lyn hou nie.En moes maar dus die call maak.

Ek gaan maar ‘n groot geleentheid daarvan, hier onder maak.

  • 67. keepin_it_realReply to this comment :

blueblood- kaplan should ref the bulls vs waratahs, i’m sure he treat them equally badly

  • 69. folankeReply to this comment :

BB supporters…you better wake up and get the hankies ready, again…BB have no style…they only win dirty and that is why they will lose…Freestate won’t be intimidated, in fact the bullies are allready intimidated…game, set and match…cheetahs

  • 70. folankeReply to this comment :

  • 71. DutchmanReply to this comment :

Bulls will win Saturday against Cheetahs….and Kaplan. Even better to win in Bloem than at Loftus.

  • 72. Meneer CheetahReply to this comment :

    Staat

  • 73. katmanReply to this comment :

True David. I reckon refs have been way too leniant on Bulls players. It’s as though they believe it would be too harsh to card more than one player at a time. Often the Bulls have deserved to have 2 or 3 off the field at once. But Kaplan won’t put up with it. I’d like to see JP or Mullet Delport try their **** again.

  • 74. PissAntReply to this comment :

See I told you blueblood was piss funny!

  • 75. Steyn The Blue BullReply to this comment :

    folanke

you don’t know what you are talking about………..so what you are saying is that the bulls players must stand back when a player pokes at there eyes…i don’t think they will….the problem here is nobady really sees what is going on………the bulls get the first punch but if they give it back then they are the dirty players…..you should wake up punk

  • 76. StaatReply to this comment :

MC, ek sou ook graag julle wou sien.

Ek moet sê my hart was gisteraand seer toe ek op die nuus sien hoe al die ouens in die rye staan vir ‘n kaartjie.

Ek glo dit gaan een moerse vibe wees!

  • 77. MartinReply to this comment :

maybe kaplan does’nt think the bulls are kosher enough

  • 78. katmanReply to this comment :

Holy ****, I’ve never seen a bunch of “supporters” so negative about their team’s chances as you bitching bullyboys.

Ig, how about a poll on who will win the final. Judging by the confidence on this thread the result should be about 95% to 5%.

  • 79. MartinReply to this comment :

the bulls have quite a few cards this cc, so the reputation is there.

  • 80. PissAntReply to this comment :

    Martin,

Surely all those cards were dished out by Kaplan this year throughout the competition?

  • 81. Steyn The Blue BullReply to this comment :

    katman

It’s on the main page buddie…….and not all the bulls are like that….i for one say…stop worring about the ref play the game…you should never be in a possition where you can lose the game when you get a bad call

  • 82. IgReply to this comment :

Of course the Bulls don’t mind, but it appears their supporters do.

JK will ref the WC final next year if SA don’t make it….wait let me rephrase – JK will ref the WC final next year.

  • 83. BlousteReply to this comment :

    Vodacom Blue Bulls 50.4%
    Vodacom Cheetahs 49.6%

lots of guys who have proved themselves in the ANZC and with a good S14 might make it to France.

They just need to learn to travel better and realise that Bay of Plenty (their #2 feeder province) are not the enemy!

  • 89. ShosolozaReply to this comment :

  • 91. katmanReply to this comment :

Ja Ig, my bad. Should have checked first. But I kind of ignore the polls because I can never vote on them – always says that I have already voted. I demand monitoring by the IEC.

  • 92. BobZimmermanReply to this comment :

So JC Fortuin gets rewarded for his really **** performance in the semi’s by running the lines in the final.

  • 93. DavidReply to this comment :

    Steyn
I don’t think the complaint is so much about the odd retaliation, which shows a lack of discipline, but the cynical late tackles designed to inflict damage and the general foulplay around the rucks and mauls.
Delports pushing Aplons face hard into the ground could have resulted in a broken nose, and for what? Those are the things that sicken the other teams.
The best way to avoid the Cheetahs complaining to the ref is not to break the rules. If you do and get caught don’t blame the opposition and the ref.

  • 94. BlueBloodReply to this comment :

    Ig,

kaplan reffing the world cup final would be like robert mugabe chairing a summit on human rights.

you see, now I am getting worked up again about this little gnat kaplan. why is he reffing the final anyway ? who decides these things ? surely it must be performance based, which totally excludes the mindless midget.

watson will probably now protect his little prodigy, because obviously kaplan has been earmarked to replace watson in the future.

  • 95. HoopsReply to this comment :

    Blueblood

I dont know how the refs are allocated but WP is stupid to play when Marius or Lawless is reff for Wp…. WP lost 5 games this year…..3 of them Marius was the ref……

  • 96. keepin_it_realReply to this comment :

blueblood- i’m selling i love kaplan bumper stickers. how many must i deliver to u boet?

  • 97. capebullReply to this comment :

To all the clever people, would you rather enter the cc final as underdogs or as favourates.

    Clearly the Cheetas are favourates:

    Home Final:
    *DJ Rassie with his lights
    *Leon Schuster
    *Naka
    *Kaplan
    *Most points in cc
    *Best looking team
*only 4000 tickets for bulls fans
*Already lost 3 times to Bulls
*According to the rest of SA ( and Ollie) the bulls are the worst ever team that played the game.

Surely the Cheetas are hot favourates….maar, EK bly ‘n BUL

  • 98. PissAntReply to this comment :

    Blueblood,

Kaplan is the #1 ref in the country.

They use a ranking system for refs, and obviously he comes out on top.

    Simple really.
