Cheetahs to keep it clean
10 Oct 2006
The Vodacom Cheetahs will not retaliate to dirty play by the Blue Bulls in Saturday’s Absa Currie Cup final.
Erasmus told Die Volksblad that some of their opponents this season seemed to regard dirty play as the recommended tactics against his team.
The Bloemfontein-based newspaper pointed out that Richardt Strauss (cuts on the face), Jannie du Plessis (stiff arm), Kabamba Floors (head), Darron Nell (fist) and Bevin Fortuin (fist) have all been “victims” of dirty play.
“Top players enjoy a hard game, as long as it remains a clean game,” said Erasmus. “I am confident that referee Jonathan Kaplan will not allow any transgressions.”
The coach said he would also instruct his players to remain within the limits of the law.

As they have been all season, go Cheetahs!
10 Oct 2006, 06:50 am
Now this is amaizing. They are trying to play the same trick with the same ref. We won’t be intimidated. In fact it’s cheetahs who play dirty. But I’m sure Kaplan will make sure cheetahs have an advantage.
10 Oct 2006, 06:52 am
Is there any other way to injure your fist besides using it?
10 Oct 2006, 06:54 am
I’l defeinately be backing the cheetahs for this one!!!
10 Oct 2006, 06:56 am
The bulls get away with far too many niggles…like pushing players heads into the ground after the whistle gone!!!! Pathetic to think any bulls fan think the cheetahs are the dirty ones!!!!!
10 Oct 2006, 06:56 am
Yes JC, Bulls are guilty for having their ribs too tough so that poor cheetahs boy are injuring their fists!
10 Oct 2006, 07:00 am
Ek hoop Delport probeer weer sy nonsens in Bloem. Hy sal daar vinnig op moer kry.
10 Oct 2006, 07:01 am
op = op sy
10 Oct 2006, 07:01 am
ciccino ????????????
10 Oct 2006, 07:02 am
why are the cheetahs injuring their fists? Is jy dom?
10 Oct 2006, 07:05 am
Amazing one year on and exactly the same propaganda starts again like clock work
10 Oct 2006, 07:07 am
I bet Kaplan will send a couple of bulls players for inguring cheetah’s fists
10 Oct 2006, 07:08 am
And amaizingly Kaplan will be again manipulated by cheetahs.
10 Oct 2006, 07:11 am
ciccino see my question 10
10 Oct 2006, 07:12 am
Maybe you should learn to read before you can learn to type??
10 Oct 2006, 07:15 am
It’s in report a couple of cheetahs players have fist injuries and I assume it’s due to other players’ strong ribs or cheekbones.
10 Oct 2006, 07:19 am
They don’t have fist injuries read it again. They have been hit with fists, stiff arms, head butts etc.
10 Oct 2006, 07:22 am
ton, wasting your time, ciccino reads what he wants, not what is actually printed. The poor fellow never got over last years loss, still bitter with Kaplan and anything with a tint of orange. His shrink said it may take a while…
10 Oct 2006, 07:26 am
First write reports properly. One player have cuts in the face it’s an injury I assume and then it goes on in the same manner (stiff arm), (fist) any normal person would assume it’s the same line = injuries.
10 Oct 2006, 07:31 am
I just don’t understand the only players that are singled out are bulls. and the rest teams are poor little boys in pink scirts? I don’t think so. It’s just the way cheetahs are trying to manipulate kaplan again that makes me sick. I don’t mind when bulls loose games when opposition played better like agains sharks at loftus or against WP at newlands. You won’t find a singe complain about ref after that games. But when bulls loose becouse of ref’s incompetence or cheating that makes me mad.
10 Oct 2006, 07:33 am
have you ever reffed a game of rugby ciccino?
10 Oct 2006, 07:35 am
Ciccino
Chill out brother, your team is still in with a chance on Saturday, save the squeels for after the game.
10 Oct 2006, 07:36 am
It doesn’t matter if i reffed or not those guys are professionals. If a player plays badly he gets dropped, whereas refs become untoucheble. It’s not right.
10 Oct 2006, 07:37 am
Jannie du Plessis probably got what he deserved, he is frequently involved in off-the-ball “incidents”…and if Philip Burger gets ‘n klap, its because he was looking for it…
10 Oct 2006, 07:38 am
Pieterman,
It’s final any team has chances, I just hope those chances won’t be determined by ref and we would be able to enjoy the game.
10 Oct 2006, 07:40 am
Ciccino
I know, I’m just jerking your chain bro!
I think everything will be cool come Saturday and we’ll have a great ball game. Don’t worry.
10 Oct 2006, 07:42 am
I don’t disagree with you Ciccino,
All I’m saying is you should have a go sometime, it’s WAY harder than it looks from the couch.
Replays and Slowmo are great for armchair critics but trying to watch 5 things at once and make the right call every time is really hard.
Getting it wrong occasionally makes you human, not a cheat.
10 Oct 2006, 07:44 am
Jy weet ciccino, vir iemand wat net Engels magtig is, is jou spelling pateties!
10 Oct 2006, 07:45 am
It’ll be a better game if they do retaliate.
10 Oct 2006, 07:50 am
KOOS qutoqbosh. Amingni ishak siksin.
Did you understand that Koos? If you refering to me do it in english.
10 Oct 2006, 07:53 am
Ricane. I understand that it’s not easy. But they are paid to do difficult job. ANy one would have been reffing if it was easy. My point is that noone can critisize refs, public don’t see any evaluation of ref’s perfomance, and when they don’t do well they get rewarded and not dropped.
10 Oct 2006, 07:57 am
What do you mean
“noone can critisize (your spelling) refs”
Everyone criticizes them, which is probably why the evaluation reports are not made public.
10 Oct 2006, 08:02 am
No if coach or player or anyone from the team’s management criticizes (thanx) he get’s in trouble. Rugby code of conduct does’t alow ctiticizm of refs.
10 Oct 2006, 08:02 am
Ricane
Wasn’t there a ‘Noon’ sometime ago in the Pom team, Jamy or something? Centre, I think.
10 Oct 2006, 08:10 am
The BB are a bunch of bully losers, and when they cannot bully they cannot win, simple as that, and like all bullies they fold when anyone actually stands up to them…and that is mainly WHY Freestate will and MUST win, so that justice can be served and righteousness restored to our national game, which is run by losers for losers…only Freestate can save SA rugby…VIVA Cheetahs !!!!
10 Oct 2006, 08:14 am
folanke
You are a real loser, whining, tosser…
Sour grapes by any change????
10 Oct 2006, 08:14 am
Cuccino,
Here in NZ if we ever have Kaplan as a match official we consider this an priviledge.
He is rated the best Ref in the world by many of Our Journo’s.
Bulls and Cheatahs should be extremely familiar with his style—–So whats to complain about?
You are lucky to have such an Official for the game. Be proud, he is respected “BIG TIME’ everywhere else in the world.
10 Oct 2006, 08:15 am
I wouldn’t mind if cheetahs win fair like sharks did in loftus or wp in Newlands.
10 Oct 2006, 08:20 am
Blouste…jy is seker ‘n BB-dinosaurus, a bit behind the time…WE ARE THE CHAMPS…you guys will be feeding on sour grapes for a long time to come, as well as the whole past year of course…born losers
10 Oct 2006, 08:21 am
cane,
He might be respected but this year he wasn’t the best ref in the country, in my view Jubert was. Kaplan gets to ref the final just becouse he is respected. that is not the right way. Last year he was absolutely manipulated by cheetahs and everyone had an impression tha in fact Naka was the ref.
10 Oct 2006, 08:23 am
Last year we took the koppie playing with a fully U21 team against a full strenght bok or boks-to-be BB team…and still won…this should tell all BB supporters to get the hankies allready ready…
10 Oct 2006, 08:25 am
Rassie can’t see much from the roof.
Did he see in the previous game how Jannie d P hit Derick Kuun?
Cheetas are the dirtiest, Bulls are the hardest.
Remember Os hitting the Bulls medical guy?
ciccino,
you’re wasting your time with these one minded tossers, they hate the bulls and will never admit they are the best. remember the tallest trees catch most of the wind (or something like that)
10 Oct 2006, 08:30 am
I don’t believe the Cheetahs are dirty. They are a clean cut bunch of plattelandse boytjies.
Their coach was one of cleanest players ever to sport the green and gold.
Os hitting the doctor? Never!
10 Oct 2006, 08:31 am
The BB are born losers, which they will richly illustrate again come Sat…that is if thery will actually show up to accept their beating !!
10 Oct 2006, 08:32 am
Yes, Shosoloza.
I’m wasting my time with all those one eyed double standarts.
10 Oct 2006, 08:33 am
folanke,
fully u21? jeez bru what your smoking?
naka, os, de waal, ollie, jannie dup, oelshig, fortuin, kabamba, rayno, barend pieterse, claasens, just to name a few are all over 21
10 Oct 2006, 08:33 am
The Cheetahs are the dirtiest team in South Africa. This is just a clever tactic to butter up Kaplan. Rassie is playing Kaplan like a fiddle. In the 2 Cheetah props (Ollie and Jannie) they will have the dirtiest players on the field come Saturday.
Just hope Kaplan does not buy Rassie’s bullshit.
10 Oct 2006, 08:33 am
Pieterman, jy was seker te dronk om die eindstryd laasjaar te kyk.
Os het die medic geslaan.
10 Oct 2006, 08:34 am
The main reason why the BB are despised is their negative BAD rugby, which with the dirty play has dragged all SA rugby down for a decade, now with the Freestate on the up and set to take control all SA supporters can slowly regain pride and confidence in the national team, albeit only after the coming world cup fiasco…
