SA won’t appeal CJ ban
Andy Marinos has confirmed the Springboks will not look to overturn CJ van der Linde’s four-week suspension.
Van der Linde was handed this sentence on Tuesday by a Sanzar judiciary after he was found guilty of dangerous play a ruck. As manager of national teams, Marinos was dissatisfied with Sanzar’s initial failure to send SA Rugby a full report, but confirmed he received this report on Thursday evening.
“After looking at all the evidence in the report and discussing it with a legal representative, we have decided not to appeal the ban,” said Marinos.
Van der Linde will not play this weekend and will also miss the next three rounds of the Currie Cup because of this ban.

It would have been a waste of time anyway.

That is because stupidity is not a defence.

He is lucky to get away with a 4 week ban.

#2 Kerneels:
Exactly, why appeal an act of stupidity?
August 29th, 2008 at 2:23 pm
Because they obviously do not care about winning or their players playing

#5 Violet: Not true, he is guilty. If you want to do stupid things like that, you don’t deserve to play.

#4 PissAnt: As far as I understand South Africa has nothing to gain by appealing anyway – his overseas club will miss out more than anyone else.
Save us the humiliation and let this thing die a quite death – we have enough embarrassing performances to deal with as it is.

Maybe he didnt deserve to play for the boks this week, but atleast he cuda added more value to our currie cup abit sooner, and by the looks of it I wont mind having abit of quality back in there sooner rather then later

My bad did not know he wont be playing CC
August 29th, 2008 at 2:32 pm
“Dont appeal”!!!!! he will probably get a longer sentence.
August 29th, 2008 at 2:37 pm
I would not appeal that finding either. It would be an insult to SANZAR.

In other surprising news stories breaking this hour, Hillary Clinton has decided not to become the first female leader of the free world, Osama Bin Laden has decided not to attend Labor Day Lunch at Dubya’s ranch and PDV has decided not to heed his advisers’ advice to shave his snor and don a wifebeater in a bid to blend into the crowd at Ellis Park.

Yesterday Marinos was all indignant about the appeal process and about how SANZAR was banging us in the bum. But now that someone has lent him a VHS of the game he’s remarkably accepting of CJ’s lot. CJ was lucky he didn’t get more than 4 weeks. I reckon the team is better off without him anyway, gazillion caps or not.

CJ is basically a yello card waiting to happen this season.

He’s a feeble scrummager anyway. Hardly a loss.

Absolutely agree.
His statements yesterday were an embarrassment. Blind Freddie could have viewed the DVD and concluded that CJ was very, very fortunate to get just four weks for his ugly and violent stupidity.
You don’t need to pore over a report to come to that conclusion, Andy!!!

I wish CJ would read the comments posted. What an idiot
