Tahs game for ‘grudge’ match
Waratahs coach Chris Hickey believes Thursday’s friendly against the Brumbies will be anything but a gradual lead-in to the Super 14.
The Tahs were losing finalists in last year’s competition while the Brumbies, although in a rebuilding phase, have always been among the top two Australian franchises. Hickey told the Canberra times this warm-up could get hotter than expected.
”It might only be a trial but whenever the Waratahs and the Brumbies come together there’s always a bit of extra feeling,” he said.
”That environment creates the need to perform under pressure which will be one of the main aims of both sides going into the match.”
Brumbies hooker Stephen Moore agreed there would be plenty to play for in Thursday’s match.
”Particularly at our fan day on Saturday a lot of people were saying they were looking forward to the NSW trial, that we love playing NSW and beating them so I’ve certainly noticed the feeling there.”
This thread will be updated throughout the day.

Very much looking forward to the Mortlock / Ashley-Cooper midfield.
Think the Waratahs will again fail to live up to their own hype.
The Aussie team with the most money and most depth at schoolboy level to choose from, but have only managed one final in 13 years.
