Hook nails late winner
13 Jun 2009
Replacement James Hook goaled a penalty in the 74th minute to give the Lions a scrappy 26-23 win over WP.
The rain abated from kickoff to climax, but the heavy showers around lunchtime certainly left their mark on the Newlands turf. The greasy ball was even harder to field given the turbulent wind, as WP fullback Joe Pietersen indicated on more than one occasion.
The Lions employed the high-ball tactic to good effect as Pietersen and company dropped several bombs to hand the visitors both territory and possession. The first quarter was characterised by garryowens, probes for touch and low-trajectory grubbers, and for the most part it was the Lions who executed these kicks better.
Willem de Waal kicked two penalties and a drop goal in the first half while Pietersen sunk a drop goal of his own, but unfortunately for the home fans, WP just never looked like scoring a try. The Newlands’ faithful screamed whenever the hosts drew close, but as the move broke down a more prominent cry of ‘Lions, Lions’ could be heard from the travelling contingent.
Wales No 8 Andy Powell stood out for the tourists, beating the first tackler with his dangerous combo of quick feet and powerful upper-body strength. It was a Powell break that sparked the first try as the Lions’ backs and forwards combined to expose some poor WP defence.
Powell offloaded to Martyn Williams who in turn popped a smart pass to Stephen Jones. Rob Kearney took it wide, throwing a great floating pass in spite of conditions. Tommy Bowe received the ball on WP’s 22, spun out of one tackle, stepped inside another and bust through two more to dot down.
Bowe’s direct running set up the visitors’ second try in the 35th minute, and again credit must go to the shocking WP defence. Bowe slid through the first line effortlessly and was eventually hauled in by Tonderai Chavhanga after repelling the hapless Pietersen. He also found the time to deliver a basketball-pass to fellow winger Ugo Monye, who showed great anticipation and pace to finish.
De Waal goaled a penalty right on half-time to reduce the deficit to 18-12, but WP were struggling to stay in the match.
The scrums were a mess with both teams falling foul to a slippery pitch while the Lions’ lineout were solid on their own ball and competitive on WP’s. The breakdowns were also a mess with no team obtaining a clear advantage.
De Waal’s penalty attempt just after the break dropped under the bar, but several moments later he was on target to further narrow the gap. Province began to believe, and this was exemplified by lock Anton van Zyl’s scuffle with opposite number Donncha O’Callaghan.WP were outclassed but were determined to go down fighting.
But there was never enough accuracy in their fight for it to amount to any real threat. They bounced off too many first-time tackles and dropped too many passes. There were several turnovers that the Cape crowd cheered, but these were very minor and insignificant victories.
The Lions piled on the pressure and eventually the WP resistance crumbled again in the 57th minute. They built through the phases never shifting out from the first-receiver, and eventually Williams flopped over in the corner.
Stephen Jones’s goal-kicking radar was off in this fixture and he’ll surely be keen to get back up to the highveld. Newlands is notorious for its difficult goal-kicking conditions but that hardly seem to affect De Waal, who kicked an important penalty in the 61st minute to keep the hosts in the game at 23-18.
Province drew level three minutes later when a sustained period of pressure paid dividends. They looked to have butchered an opportunity but remained patient, and when the overlap was created De Waal threw a good overhead pass to Pietersen who showcased his finishing ability. De Waal, couldn’t convert from the touchline, but at 23-23 with 16 minutes remaining, the stage was set for a dramatic finish.
Hook didn’t fare any better than Jones with his first penalty attempt, and so the Lions failed to take the lead. Brimming with confidence, the hosts fought their way into Lions territory but were undone by a handling error again. This time it was De Waal who dropped the ball cold.
Hook goaled a difficult penalty from 50m out to regain the lead and from here the Lions fought to hang on. Again they were helped by WP’s errors, an attacking movement in Lions territory coming to nought due to a forward pass. On the hooter, Pietersen also grubbered the ball away to hand the visitors victory.
It was a far from polished performance from the men in red, but the bottom line is the Lions have won their fifth match in succession and gained further match preparation ahead of next Saturday’s Test in Durban.

13 Jun 2009, 15:51 pm

13 Jun 2009, 15:52 pm
#120 Ed_the_Lion: WP doen nie te sleg nie. Watson is totaal anoniem, maar as dit nie vir Pietersen se twee foute onder die hoe bal en sy k*k tekkel was nie, was die leeus nie nou voor nie. ek se weer, die leeus impress my geensins nie
13 Jun 2009, 15:53 pm
#116 Crouching Tiger Hidden Bokke:
Hmmm maybe but they’ve put up a decent fight. I think if Province had gone for the try instead of slotting the drop the complexion of the game might be different. The only time the Lions have been put under pressure (against the Cheetahs) they haven’t looked too flash.
13 Jun 2009, 15:53 pm
Not sure Lawrence understands how a maul works. If your shoulder leaves the back of the maul and you rejoin… accidental offside… and Puke did it twice and then Lions get pinged. Bad inconsistency like that makes it hard for both teams
13 Jun 2009, 15:53 pm
#120 Ed_the_Lion: stem saam. hulle het so min agting vir die wp, dat nie een van die 2 kapteins speel nie.
13 Jun 2009, 15:54 pm

#140 goyougoodthing2: Just ******* with you. I’m not sure who will handle the first test.
13 Jun 2009, 15:59 pm
It’s Mark Lawrence in Durban… god help both sides.
13 Jun 2009, 15:59 pm
#132 goyougoodthing2:
bryce lawrence, both coaches are meeting with him, they need to watch lions technique, they are going to ground too quickly and controlling it well like that.
13 Jun 2009, 16:00 pm
#142 Ed_the_Lion: You made my heart stop. I mean I know about affirmative action and all that but hell man!
13 Jun 2009, 16:01 pm
**** it’s the Kiwi Bryce…
International Rugby Board high-performance referee panel members Bryce Lawrence, from New Zealand, Christophe Berdos, from France, and Dickinson will handle the three Tests on the first Lions tour of South Africa in 12 years.
13 Jun 2009, 16:01 pm
Ok, kom ons kyk verder en praat later.
BILions met 25, se ek…
13 Jun 2009, 16:02 pm
great tackle by the young newman, totally committed
13 Jun 2009, 16:02 pm
#97 grootblousmile: He’s scared his own team moers him…..
13 Jun 2009, 16:02 pm
#144 cab: Bryce is not great. He’s Pedantic and slows the game down. Could be helpful to the Lions if he doesn’t ping them at the breakdown.
He misses A LOT though. Where have all the good refs gone and why can’t Kaplan ref one of these matches?
13 Jun 2009, 16:02 pm
#144 cab: PDV will sort it, the Kiwis love him

13 Jun 2009, 16:06 pm
#151 Big Hit:
lol
13 Jun 2009, 16:06 pm
#154 cab: It’s working for them. They totally murdered the Sharks like that, couldn’t get anywhere near the ball – even if they wanted to which looked doubtful
13 Jun 2009, 16:06 pm
13 Jun 2009, 16:10 pm
Just turned over to watch the rugga. WP not doing bad here at all.
Our Proteas got 183. WI need 184 to win.
Anyways good luck WP. Go WP
13 Jun 2009, 16:10 pm
Must say the Lions don’t look as aggressive today as the did Wednesday…
13 Jun 2009, 16:10 pm
#162 Pietman: Daai kortetjie, wat staan en niks doen… en naar lyk… dis Lulu… hehehe
13 Jun 2009, 16:12 pm
#164 goyougoodthing2: Think this is their 2nd side that played Cheetahs.
13 Jun 2009, 16:12 pm
Good build up there from the Lions, that kind of play could dismantle the Boks if they don’t have their game face on. The first 20 mins, rusty, no game time… gonna be tough. I think leaving them out of the Provincial teams was a mistake and I am SUPER p1ssed off at hpaying R1000 for tickets to watch the muck I saw Wednesday
13 Jun 2009, 16:13 pm
#166 Puma: Definately.
13 Jun 2009, 16:14 pm
TRy Williams
13 Jun 2009, 16:14 pm
Another good try.
13 Jun 2009, 16:14 pm
Moes kom.
13 Jun 2009, 16:14 pm
So patient, ruthless…. clinical…
13 Jun 2009, 16:15 pm
#171 Ed_the_Lion: as brussouw daar was was dit n turnover….
13 Jun 2009, 16:15 pm
PUKE so busy shouting he missed the guy going over and then jumped on him to pretend. He’s so easy to dislike. Pity, he has a good S14 compared to the rest of his rubbish team
13 Jun 2009, 16:15 pm
Bwaaaaaaa Luke standsof the maul shouting instrutions and then gets bulldozered over the tryline….
13 Jun 2009, 16:15 pm
Lions 23 / 15
13 Jun 2009, 16:16 pm
8 points its nothing, WP still in this if they keep it up.
13 Jun 2009, 16:16 pm
#172 grootblousmile: Well put. I really really really hope my Sharks team watches these matches and puts some patience into their arsenal. At the moment we have nothing and won’t defend the CCup playing like that. Which I guess is good for you but surely you want to see decent rugby
13 Jun 2009, 16:17 pm
Peetersen is having a MARE
13 Jun 2009, 16:17 pm
56 minutes of rugby.
How anyone can compare 46 to Brussouw as a fetcher just boggles the mind.
Not even.
13 Jun 2009, 16:17 pm
pietersen kos wp die game man alleen….
13 Jun 2009, 16:17 pm
#175 gunther:
13 Jun 2009, 16:17 pm
#173 Veltie: En ‘n drie vir WP. Pietersen sukkel vandag.
13 Jun 2009, 16:17 pm
#181 Veltie: dink net as luke ook daar was!
13 Jun 2009, 16:17 pm
Brussouw should have been in,Schalk is not 100% fit
13 Jun 2009, 16:18 pm
#184 JM: sou orals gekots het….
13 Jun 2009, 16:18 pm
#185 wpforever: Schalk is also playing 100& kak of late too.
13 Jun 2009, 16:19 pm
#182 goyougoodthing2:
in fairness he talks a good game..
13 Jun 2009, 16:19 pm
Lions 23 / 18
13 Jun 2009, 16:19 pm
#167 goyougoodthing2: Agree we should have had our 10 Sharks Boks in the side on Wed. Very, very stupid to leave them out. We have had no warm up game. Shark Boks played many weeks back. Would not have harmed us one bit to play those Boks. Actually think it would have done us more good than not. Would have known much more what to expect. Now going in cold turkey is just damn stupid. Also traing at sea level for two weeks before heading straight back to the highveld to play at altitude.
Phew!!!!!!! think these coaches have it wrong. REALLY hope we are all wrong.
13 Jun 2009, 16:19 pm
Zero penetration by Province.
13 Jun 2009, 16:20 pm
yip gotta watch this breakdown, okes going off feet, coming in from side.
13 Jun 2009, 16:20 pm
3 drieë teen flokkol en hulle is net 5 punte voor.
13 Jun 2009, 16:20 pm
How are these commentators, saying you can’t criticise Lawrence for getting things wrong… wtf…
Pay me R15k for getting things wrong 2 hours per week and I’d be smiling.
13 Jun 2009, 16:20 pm
#190 Puma: trang = training.
13 Jun 2009, 16:21 pm
#194 goyougoodthing2:
13 Jun 2009, 16:21 pm
#188 gunther: ha ha. Yes, like the Tiger Rajbansi, he can talk a lot too.
#190 Puma: I am soooo cross about the cash I have spent, I am livid to think how SARFU ripped me off
13 Jun 2009, 16:21 pm
WP has’nt looked close to scoring a try… not even a glimmer
13 Jun 2009, 16:22 pm
Go WP.
Turning over now to watch the 20/20 cricket. Brilliant game going on there.
13 Jun 2009, 16:22 pm
Joe you beauty…all is forgiven!
13 Jun 2009, 16:22 pm
Cheers all hope WP wins here.
13 Jun 2009, 16:22 pm
PETERSEN you beauty
13 Jun 2009, 16:23 pm

13 Jun 2009, 16:23 pm
#198 grootblousmile:

13 Jun 2009, 16:23 pm
Bad call from the linesman leads to a try…
13 Jun 2009, 16:23 pm
#198 grootblousmile: se gou weer?
13 Jun 2009, 16:23 pm
As I say that… Petersen scores…. TMO
Try… scores level, kick to come
13 Jun 2009, 16:23 pm
all these big deal gatgabbas from north of the jukskei supported by their **** nosed smokkelaars from south of the berg river, who out of sheer ideological incapacity have turned tail and run for the shallow shadows of their closed ox wagon circles, and who don’t even have the guts or the class to support their own province or captain are the pitiful 2nd grade frauds of this website.
and it is precisely this indoctrinated punk *** attitude that is the epitome of the trash that exists in the ideological debauch dichotomy that is the bane of this proud Sa rugby fraternity.
What they going to say if WP manage to win this little contest against their sorry sad debauch desires, the poor punk prick’s that they are.
I said yesterday watch out for the upset and who knows perhaps here it comes.
13 Jun 2009, 16:23 pm
ek on sweer ek het nou net ‘n ou gesien wat soos luke lyk.
13 Jun 2009, 16:23 pm

13 Jun 2009, 16:24 pm
#208 skopskiet:
we will say well done WP now put a sock in it…
13 Jun 2009, 16:25 pm
#208 skopskiet: Have you ever considered becoming an Evangelical Minister
13 Jun 2009, 16:25 pm
Come on Aplon do your magic !
13 Jun 2009, 16:26 pm
#211 grootblousmile: bou so voort my bloubul mater. laat ons hierdie souties slag
13 Jun 2009, 16:26 pm
#208 skopskiet: This is the Lions second team. You could liken it to the Boks winning the WC without having to play the All Blacks as you go on and on and on about at every opportunity.
13 Jun 2009, 16:27 pm
#214 goyougoodthing2: What will he evangelise…. “f’c adilly gospel” ??
13 Jun 2009, 16:27 pm
#208 skopskiet: i will say cograts. you sure can predict an upset.
13 Jun 2009, 16:28 pm
Sa ref trying his utmost to keep the Br. Lions in the game.
13 Jun 2009, 16:28 pm
#218 grootblousmile: Something like that. Something about fingers pointing to the moon and naysayers with oxwagons crucifying ***** not the jews who have been blamed for it…
13 Jun 2009, 16:29 pm
#219 JM:
even a broken watch is right twice a day..
13 Jun 2009, 16:29 pm
#220 skopskiet: I’d say he’s done a good job keeping Puke’s team in the game.
13 Jun 2009, 16:30 pm
lions are in deep **** here, superb stuff.
13 Jun 2009, 16:30 pm
forward pass?
13 Jun 2009, 16:31 pm
#162 Pietman: Nee man, daardie is Player 23, Jan Watson of so iets.
13 Jun 2009, 16:32 pm
bad decision by the linesman… shocker. Is it a game for girls now?
13 Jun 2009, 16:32 pm
lol, big hitttt
13 Jun 2009, 16:33 pm
Powell shoulder barge – dirty welsh fck!
13 Jun 2009, 16:33 pm
Lawrence n@@i hierdie BLions
13 Jun 2009, 16:34 pm
What a SHOCKER from Fake Tan Lawrence. Keeping the Glory Hole boys in this one.
What a JOKE
13 Jun 2009, 16:34 pm
Lawrenson is helping WP… a lot…
13 Jun 2009, 16:34 pm
Monye is also a cheating prick!
13 Jun 2009, 16:34 pm
jeez lawrence is also making some strange one’s tackle was ok and so was the throw-in by munye
13 Jun 2009, 16:35 pm
#232 grootblousmile: Yes he is. He is a real *****
13 Jun 2009, 16:35 pm
#233 Crouching Tiger Hidden Bokke: ?
13 Jun 2009, 16:36 pm
they are going to ban home refs in warm up matches after this..
13 Jun 2009, 16:36 pm
Playing Bobo at wing is one of the worst decisions I’ve ever seen!
13 Jun 2009, 16:36 pm
O flok, JD Mollig is on for Blaauw… and immediately he does not take the bind
13 Jun 2009, 16:37 pm
#237 gunther: I’d ban ALL refs if I had the chance. We could all ref using our DSTV remotes.
13 Jun 2009, 16:37 pm
#235 goyougoodthing2: Did you not see his throw-in to himself? He thought no-one was looking, that’s twice he’s tried to get away with illegal quick throw-ins.
13 Jun 2009, 16:38 pm
Lions 26 / 23
13 Jun 2009, 16:38 pm
#238 Crouching Tiger Hidden Bokke: Playing Bobo on a rugby field is a pretty bad start.
13 Jun 2009, 16:38 pm
#240 goyougoodthing2: now that is the best idea ever!
13 Jun 2009, 16:39 pm
Who wants the game more now…. WP or Lions….
13 Jun 2009, 16:39 pm
#241 Crouching Tiger Hidden Bokke: It was’t illegal. It was a 5m throw to himself with the same ball that only he had touched. Lawrence completely messed up his decision there.
13 Jun 2009, 16:39 pm
#241 Crouching Tiger Hidden Bokke:
lol he thought no one was looking …. do you really think that…the repla shows it was a highly marginal call…
13 Jun 2009, 16:40 pm
Moller sien sy Holler
13 Jun 2009, 16:40 pm
17 isn’t binding at all.
13 Jun 2009, 16:40 pm
Mollig gives away another penalty…. 2 scrums in a row
13 Jun 2009, 16:40 pm
#240 goyougoodthing2:
yes and we get to vote a player off every 5 minutes…
13 Jun 2009, 16:40 pm
#247 gunther: It looked suspect to me boet.
13 Jun 2009, 16:41 pm
You second grade frauds can go stuff yourselves cause as much as it pains you to acknowledge it you punks can’t stomach the fact that this lowly province captained by the bane of your ideologically deluded deficiency has taken this Lions team closer than all your highly devolved doos teams can muster.
Especially the punk *** Nazi twat pricks in the midst with the Germanic style intelligence of note
13 Jun 2009, 16:41 pm
God help the Emerging Boks with De Waal at 10.
13 Jun 2009, 16:41 pm
I can count at least 10 calls that Lawrence has made today that have been wrong and directly benefited WP. I know he is an awful orange coloured ref, but ffs
13 Jun 2009, 16:42 pm
come on province, here we go…
13 Jun 2009, 16:42 pm
Terrible decision making from Joe… kicking the ball away on the hooter????????????
13 Jun 2009, 16:42 pm
#253 skopskiet:
don’t be foolish …
13 Jun 2009, 16:42 pm
Lions win 26 / 23
13 Jun 2009, 16:43 pm
lol, not a bad effort at all.
13 Jun 2009, 16:43 pm
#253 skopskiet: ‘This Lions 2nd team is like winning the world cup without playing the kiwis”… does that sound familiar chumper wumper?
13 Jun 2009, 16:43 pm
well played province good effort..
13 Jun 2009, 16:43 pm
a miss is as good as a mile
13 Jun 2009, 16:43 pm
Well done Province.
Nice try.
Congrats to the BL and their supporters.
13 Jun 2009, 16:44 pm
So the Lions C team beat a full strength WP side. If only WP had a captain.
13 Jun 2009, 16:44 pm
#254 Crouching Tiger Hidden Bokke: De Waal is about as good a 10 as Monty Dumond. The only place they would be safe on a rugby field is… off it.
13 Jun 2009, 16:45 pm
#251 gunther: Nice, rugby idols
13 Jun 2009, 16:45 pm
#253 skopskiet:
it must kill you that de waal was the guy that kept them in it…also provonce came no closer than the cheetahsd did..
13 Jun 2009, 16:45 pm
#253 skopskiet: Keep smoking that crazy dagga oupa! WP only got through penalties while the Lions have crossed the line 3 times. At least the Cheetahs outscored the Lions just let down by their goal kicking. WP showed heart but by no means did they outplay the Lions. If De Waal had got that kick WP might have one. Goal kicking is a major weakness in SA. Not particularly optimistic about the Boks winning this series anymore.
13 Jun 2009, 16:45 pm
Well done Western Province, did yourselves proud, I knew you would, knew it would be a tight game. Just pleased to get out of that by the skin of our teeth. Again well done.
13 Jun 2009, 16:45 pm
Wonder wanneer gaan kopskoot weer hier blog, lanklaas van hom gehoor ?
Hoop Snorre het mooi na hierdie wedstryd gekyk: jy kan nie sonder ‘n fetcher in jou span speel nie. Punt
Bring Brussow of Stegmann in !
13 Jun 2009, 16:45 pm
I am a bit disappointed with you guys. That was a SA team playing.
13 Jun 2009, 16:46 pm
#231 Ed_the_Lion:
Jis, ek se jou!
Hy het sy bes probeer, kyk net daai tekkel van Powell byvoorbeeld….amper gee hy hom n kaart…niks fout gewees daar nie.
13 Jun 2009, 16:46 pm
Fark, De Waal kicked away ALL WP’s quality possession…
The Lions won the ground ball battle, no doubt !
… but well done WP, for running the Lions close, although ably assisted by the Ref.
Congrats Lions… still unbeaten…
13 Jun 2009, 16:47 pm
#253 skopskiet: Are you by any chance calling white South Africans Nazis?
13 Jun 2009, 16:47 pm
#271 BDB: Kopskoot blog nou op die afrika Sokker blog. Hy het agtergekom rugby is nie vir hom nie.
13 Jun 2009, 16:47 pm
#234 cab: awful decisions, in fairness only one of them was by Lawrence, the other one was by the TJ
13 Jun 2009, 16:48 pm
#273 Pietman: Kyk Pietman, as dit nie vir Lawrence was nie, het WP erg pak gekry.
13 Jun 2009, 16:48 pm
#272 Loserer:
I agree completely where were you sa fans were cheering the teams playing the Bulls in the semi and the finals…
13 Jun 2009, 16:49 pm
#272 Loserer: ? Of course it was, and it’s another sad day when we can’t beat a C team. Point is some people just like causing nonsense so you have to be real and point out a few things to them.
I’m not going to let some blindsided ideological fool rant about me and get away with it
13 Jun 2009, 16:49 pm
Willem De Waal was excellent, almost his finest hour.
13 Jun 2009, 16:49 pm
#271 Big Hit:
The referee screwed you boys big time.
Sorry.
13 Jun 2009, 16:51 pm
#279 gunther: I shouted for the Bulls, even some of their real think fans who happen to be friends of mine couldn’t put me off cheering on a SAFFA team. And some of the fans make it HARD to embrace them LOL
13 Jun 2009, 16:51 pm
#275 Crouching Tiger Hidden Bokke:
no I think he was calling me a nazi which is ironic since I’m not german and I can’t even speak afrikaans…slightly inconvenient for him…maybe I will take him to Europe to see the graves of my antecedents who died so crunts like him could be free…
13 Jun 2009, 16:51 pm
#279 Ed_the_Lion:
Daai ingooi van die vleuel, heeltemal ligit, 5 meter, daai tekkel van Andy met sy arm om,…en dan JD wat nie bind nie, drie keer na mekaar?
13 Jun 2009, 16:52 pm
#279 gunther: I actually cheered myself hoarse…please don’t tell my Dad though
13 Jun 2009, 16:52 pm
Looks like the Proteas are on top too!
13 Jun 2009, 16:52 pm
1. Cheetahs
2. WP
3. Sharks
4. GL
Die buiteperdvir die CB is die BB, wat nog te dronk is om te dink aan die CB …
13 Jun 2009, 16:53 pm
#286 Loserer:
your secret is safe with me…
13 Jun 2009, 16:53 pm
I am proud of my boy…he showed his quality…pity WP had no 12 on the field…Damn…Well done Morgie…You made the best of what was given to you..Should have been you or bobo at 12…Fkit Luke had to lead a totally depleted team and still got close enough even though half of teh team played kak…Joe had a nightmare but still managed though.. Dewaal kicked OK but the rest of the game was Kak…no defence at 10 and 12… Aplon tackled better than 10 and 12
13 Jun 2009, 16:53 pm
The kuk players for WP was Luke Watson, Joe Petersen, J D Moller, Bobo, Newman, and the No 6 flank… whatshisname… and De Waal, although kicking well to posts, kicked far too much…
The outstanding players for the Lions was Tommy Bowe, Kearney, Williams, Ellis
13 Jun 2009, 16:54 pm
#278 Ed_the_Lion:
LOL, you okes can only talk ****, there was buggeral pak there.
13 Jun 2009, 16:54 pm
Have you guys picked up the fact that apparently it is legit now to tackle around the neck? All the games that was played so far had some hair raising tackles innit.
13 Jun 2009, 16:55 pm
290.Shaun,You have to Celebrate.
13 Jun 2009, 16:56 pm
Luke was doodfo*kkenstil.
13 Jun 2009, 16:56 pm
#285 Pietman: Ja Pietman. Sal nie verbaas wees as Cheeky hom gebribe het nie.
Sjoe, maar Luke het weer ‘n kak game gehad.
13 Jun 2009, 16:56 pm
Stuart Barnes was complaining about the weather and the fact that it was raining… i mean come on, really.
13 Jun 2009, 16:56 pm
Good game, shame about having to listen to the British commentary. Had to mute the stuff they’re so full of **** can’t wait to watch the Boks kick their a*^
13 Jun 2009, 16:56 pm
That fool has found his way to this thread now.
13 Jun 2009, 16:57 pm
WP is now officially the most boring team in SA.
13 Jun 2009, 16:57 pm
#295 Veltie: Pity, ne? Ek het regtig gedink hy gaan uitblink
13 Jun 2009, 16:57 pm
#217 goyougoodthing2: seconds team my A*& and I was unaware that it was mandatory to play the All Blacks to win the world cup? When was that rule introduced? Get over it dude.
13 Jun 2009, 16:57 pm
Boring team with a kuk captain.
13 Jun 2009, 16:58 pm
#297 Loserer: stuart barnes is n drol
13 Jun 2009, 16:58 pm
#300 K9 the Lion: King of Beasts: Dit kan jy weer sê.
13 Jun 2009, 16:58 pm
lol, very good interview with anton van zyl, had a great game too.
13 Jun 2009, 16:58 pm
#297 Loserer: don’t listen to Barnes, everyone hates him up here
13 Jun 2009, 16:58 pm
#290 Langenhoven:
bru did you even watch the game de waal kept province in it…
13 Jun 2009, 16:58 pm
13 Jun 2009, 16:58 pm
#291 grootblousmile: Thats because you don’t watch much rugby…there are more than two players on teh field….you miss a lot when you are blinkered
13 Jun 2009, 16:59 pm
#293 Loserer: I have noticed some superbly dodgy tackles and generally nefarious play from the Lions on this tour. Not particularly in the spirit of the tour one would have thought.
But it seems to be okay, as is rucking, something pur S14 guys would be sent to jail for, even standing near someone in boots was enough to get the bin on occassion.
I think rucking is part of the game… but rules are rules… or not
13 Jun 2009, 16:59 pm
#292 grootblousmile:
This Newman boy, Bagel says he is kuk… they went to Bishops together in their final, he was a ‘post-matric’ student last year, whatever that may be….passing school at age 20 or so?
13 Jun 2009, 16:59 pm
Lyk my kopskoot is darem terug na die sokker blog toe. Nou moet lange en namakwa hom volg, dan is alles lekker.
13 Jun 2009, 16:59 pm
#303 K9 the Lion: King of Beasts:
#305 Ed_the_Lion:
13 Jun 2009, 17:00 pm
#297 Loserer:
you would swear they never play rugby in the rain in the UK…
13 Jun 2009, 17:01 pm
#298 ldn_bokkie: Ne? The Lions are not impressing me.
Imagine a combined team, say the Great White (as in Shark)that consist out of SA, All Blacks and some Wallabies (
)Ganging up on the Home Nations and play them individually, playing a warm up against Saracens and only win by 3 or 2 points?
13 Jun 2009, 17:01 pm
#308 gunther: He could have made them win…I don’t aim low mate… Luke kept them in the game…It took massive leadership to make them believe though all their inadequacies
13 Jun 2009, 17:01 pm
#312 goyougoodthing2: I think it’s been a pretty clean tour overall. Especially compared to the mess in 2005 and the Waratahs game in 2001. SA teams have played hard but fair, good on them.
13 Jun 2009, 17:01 pm
#315 grootblousmile: Hehehehe, meeste na mekaar Lions wenne wat ek in ‘n laaaaang tyd gesien het.
13 Jun 2009, 17:01 pm
#304 K9 the Lion: King of Beasts:
Your ex-Lions boy was motm, imo…Anton van Zyl.
Luke and Newman were just plain ‘poppie kuk’….again….
13 Jun 2009, 17:01 pm
#302 ldn_bokkie: Dude you are completely missing the point and you have no idea what I am talking about. If it’s not directed at you then leave it alone.
Skop rambles on about us not being WC champs cos we didn’t play the ABs and then relishes this close loss to a C Lions team.
If you want to throw insults, throw them at people who are not talking rugby and stirring *****, otherwise stay out of my way.
13 Jun 2009, 17:01 pm
#313 Pietman: Newman is maar super kuk Pieta…. end vannie prent.
13 Jun 2009, 17:01 pm
Eddieleeu, slaan jy Skerms op? As jy nie weet wat om te antwoord nie, gaan roep jou oom daar innie pampoenland.
13 Jun 2009, 17:02 pm
#312 goyougoodthing2: yeah and I think it is atrocious that the Lions have not picked up much injuries….
13 Jun 2009, 17:03 pm
#316 namakwaland: LOL
#323 Pietman: Newman is not great. It seems no one in the WP backline can tackle…
13 Jun 2009, 17:03 pm
#325 grootblousmile: Lekker dag vir rugby!! We just managed to scrape home there!! Phew!!
13 Jun 2009, 17:03 pm
Skoppie could have played number 8 or 12 for WP today and made more of an impact in this game than his beloved Watson and Grant.
As for his other wonder boy Pieterson, well enough said.
13 Jun 2009, 17:04 pm
#326 natkakcant: http://www.africasoccer.com
Nou kan jy lekker gaan chat.
Groot plesier, hoop jy geniet dit.
13 Jun 2009, 17:05 pm
#313 Pietman: Bagel is sore ****…if he did say that…You heard wrong…He played for Maties last year… but he did get a post matric scholarship at Bishops where he did all his schooling ( High school)
13 Jun 2009, 17:05 pm
#321 Langenhoven:
Hey Langkop…
Your UCT graduation papers, I am waiting old son.
And I am NOT talking pamphlets with hammers and sickels, I am talking degrees, as in MBA?
Show them up, or shut up…
13 Jun 2009, 17:05 pm
#327 Loserer: LOL. Did you hear Naas and John Robbie talking about the tour they were involved in. Naas said the main point of the warm up games was to hurt the Lions and soften them up
I think this tour is a bit of a sham so far. I will be voting with my feet next time a tour is played under strength…
13 Jun 2009, 17:06 pm
Well done Lions they have 2 good packs but only ONE good backline Bowe and Monye must be in there now for the test team!
13 Jun 2009, 17:06 pm
#323 Pietman: Ja….toe hulle opdraf toe dog ek wie is daardie dik no13……… en Luke….koddigste loosie wat ek nog gesien het.
13 Jun 2009, 17:06 pm
#318 gunther: A bit rich coming from them, claiming that you get 4 seasons in one day in CT. Well bloody hell, in CT you can at least say lets have a braai in 3 hours time and you won’t get rained out!
13 Jun 2009, 17:06 pm
#329 carol: Hellooooooo
The Lions scraped past a very disjointed WP Team…. I bet you’re glad that you’re a Bulls supporter now !!
Congrats on the Lions though…
13 Jun 2009, 17:06 pm
#320 Langenhoven:
Luke had a VERY quiet game and de waal floated a beaut for joes try give credit where its due and people might take you more seriously…
13 Jun 2009, 17:06 pm
#333 Pietman: Hi Piet, nice to have you back here….Sorry we just about managed to scrape a win there, we should have been more convincing!!
13 Jun 2009, 17:07 pm
#334 goyougoodthing2: Yup, the score is 1-0 for the Lions with Ludik’s broken leg
13 Jun 2009, 17:07 pm
#333 Langenhoven:
Dan is hy maar bleddie dom, as hy eers matriek slaag op 22-jarige ouderdom….
En wat soek hy op Maties, wat swot hy daar?
13 Jun 2009, 17:07 pm
Just wandering if any of our bloggers are backing the Windies cos they are ‘more african’ today…
13 Jun 2009, 17:08 pm
#341 carol:
You should have won this one easily, poor refereeing cost you….but a win is a win!
13 Jun 2009, 17:08 pm
#341 Loserer: Yep, and I heard a rumor he was heading for the Sharks too… he is a great player and I hope he comes back from injury… those kinds of injury can ruin your head game
13 Jun 2009, 17:08 pm
#338 grootblousmile: Seems I made the move at the right time, the Bulls are pretty cool!!
Wore my Springbok jersey to Nigel’s house to watch the rugger, the lads gave me some stick, epecially when they saw 15 Montgomery on the back!! Heheheh
13 Jun 2009, 17:09 pm
#324 goyougoodthing2: Yip, This was a poor Lions team. Think it was thier B or maybe C team. Still WP only lost by 3 points. Think Burger, Bekker and Ricky had dreadful S14. Never watched a lot of this game so not sure if WP even missed them. If they never then why do we have them in the Bok team?
Our Proteas are doing damn well though should beat WI. Great game going on there. Watched the cricket today mostly.
13 Jun 2009, 17:09 pm
#344 Pietman: Got to admit WP’s kicking kept us in our place!
That was a geat try though wasn’t it!
13 Jun 2009, 17:10 pm
#325 grootblousmile: I believe that you son is good rugby player… lets wait and see.. It will be sad one day when he has to distance himself from you to get into a representative team…
13 Jun 2009, 17:10 pm
#346 carol: Today…two weeks from now!!!!!!
13 Jun 2009, 17:10 pm
#339 gunther: Luke was nowhere… the only time I saw him was when he jumped on a player who had already scored a try and he was too busy moaning to cover him
13 Jun 2009, 17:11 pm
#346 carol: Carol it was 26 here today and full sun. Hope the weather holds out for you. See a cold front coming again and its forecast for 21 on Thursday and Friday with rain. Now do you have to bring the British weather with you? hehehe.
Quite a lot of Lions supporters here in Durbs now. Think the ones that watched the Wed night game stayed here in Durbs and waiting for the test on Sat.
13 Jun 2009, 17:11 pm
#350 K9 the Lion: King of Beasts: Hi K9, really looking forward to meeting you at LOFTUS !!! Get GBS to tell us where to meet up!
13 Jun 2009, 17:11 pm
#347 Puma: IMO it would have mattered zero had those 3 been there. The ref had it in for the Lions today and kept WP in the game. Should have been 40 – 20 or so
13 Jun 2009, 17:11 pm
#350 Langenhoven:
Papers, UCT?
Like in Masters, or something….
I am waiting….
13 Jun 2009, 17:12 pm
13 Jun 2009, 17:12 pm
Imagine how easily the Boks could win it with Watson at openside and Grant at 10?
13 Jun 2009, 17:12 pm
Cheers all. Going out to dinner now.
Go Proteas.
13 Jun 2009, 17:12 pm
#353 carol: No I’ll tell him. I go more to Loftus than him hehehehe
13 Jun 2009, 17:13 pm
#352 Puma: Puma, we thought Cape Town looked like Gloucester in December!! Cold and wet!!
26 sounds just like heaven, I will pack my shorts if it has been that hot!
13 Jun 2009, 17:13 pm
#355 Pietman: Empty vessels often make the loudest noise. Confuse them with rationality and they disappear, like a **** in a thunderstorm
13 Jun 2009, 17:13 pm
#356 grootblousmile: Goed gesê. Aan die WP ondersteuner wat sy rugby ken, sê ek ook jammer oor die verloor.
13 Jun 2009, 17:13 pm
Lukas Lukas…sal jy die boere kom ly? generaal, generaal…
13 Jun 2009, 17:14 pm

13 Jun 2009, 17:14 pm
#357 cab:
Watson and Grant are not eligible to play for the BL on this tour.
13 Jun 2009, 17:14 pm
#353 carol: I will ask K9 if he wants to come to the Airport as well to meet up when you land…
Then we can discuss plans for Loftus…
13 Jun 2009, 17:14 pm
#357 cab: Cab don’t get ahead of yourself. This was a B team the WP side played. Look how well Cheetahs also played against them? WE need Brussow and M. Steyn to start. M. Steyn can kick and Brussow will win us all the ball at the breakdowns. Now need to get that through to the 3 coaches.
Off to dinner now. Cheers all out of here.
13 Jun 2009, 17:14 pm
#339 gunther: Gunther…they got very close…every player had moments but they did have the chance to win…one one good play was required to make it happen…It was plain stupidity that prevented the shock of the tour… Luke was quiet but almost lead his team to a great win…that says a lot…sometimes its best that the general stay clear of the messy stuff
13 Jun 2009, 17:14 pm
#358 Puma: Enjoy Puma, that is a bit early isn’t it?
13 Jun 2009, 17:15 pm
#364 goyougoodthing2:
how else do you explain that scoreline?
When Ou Doos is right we must acknowledge, what else?
#366 tight head:
hoekom?
13 Jun 2009, 17:15 pm
#365 K9 the Lion: King of Beasts: Nee wat, die Leeus sal lank voor dit wen. Mens moet iets tussen die ore hê om ‘n graad te kry.
13 Jun 2009, 17:15 pm
#366 tight head:
13 Jun 2009, 17:16 pm
#337 Loserer:

Less than a week GBS, I am not sleeping well now btw!
13 Jun 2009, 17:16 pm
#362 goyougoodthing2:
I know.
But I have got him by the ‘curly’at present, let’s see what he comes up with…he is one big mouth pretender, and I have him right up there against the wall…he has to admit, or quit.
Now…..let’s see what he’s got….
13 Jun 2009, 17:17 pm
Some people’s ideological ilogic baffles… as a captain of a rugby team the best place to lead from is hiding in the showers?
wtf kind of logic is that? Only Snor himself could say something more stupid
13 Jun 2009, 17:17 pm
#374 gunther: Does your ‘belter’ moan?
13 Jun 2009, 17:18 pm
hoekom slaan hulle die poep uit die Gauteng leeus en sharks, maar nie weepee?
Bulls is volgende op, hier kom groot pak, hulle het geen vegters.
13 Jun 2009, 17:18 pm
#370 Langenhoven:
Hey, moenie nou mooi praatjies maak nie Langkop, antwoord my man, jou slapgat…het jy n graad behaal op Ikeys, of het jy nie?
13 Jun 2009, 17:18 pm
#378 goyougoodthing2: That was a laugh. Let the captain hide, while his men does the work.
13 Jun 2009, 17:18 pm
#369 Langenhoven:
if keeping clear of the messy stuff is what is required of a general then he is an excellent general indeed..
13 Jun 2009, 17:18 pm
Now I’m going to watch the cricket. Geez how did we survive without PVR??
13 Jun 2009, 17:18 pm

13 Jun 2009, 17:19 pm

13 Jun 2009, 17:20 pm
#379 carol:

13 Jun 2009, 17:20 pm
#386 goyougoodthing2: Good summary.
13 Jun 2009, 17:21 pm
#386 grootblousmile:

Soos in NOU.
13 Jun 2009, 17:21 pm
#382 Ed_the_Lion: I think the last guy to do that was Hitler. Before that Napoleon. Both had big mouths and were quite short too
13 Jun 2009, 17:21 pm
#386 goyougoodthing2:
yessus, u sure u dont want to throw suzie in there?
even the kiwis dont make excuses like that.
13 Jun 2009, 17:21 pm
#387 Loserer: Ek weet dit. Party WP manne en dames hier wat vir WP ondersteun en nie vir Luke aanbid nie. Vir hulle sê ek mooi probeer en ek het gehoop WP wen.
13 Jun 2009, 17:21 pm
#374 gunther: Too right…
13 Jun 2009, 17:21 pm
#389 gunther: They can’t all be poms though!
13 Jun 2009, 17:22 pm
Die SA krieketspan doen goed… Windies kniediep in die poef
13 Jun 2009, 17:22 pm
#355 Pietman: Het jy vir Trevor manuel ook gevra vir sy papers…I Must be great If I can make it big in London without papers … MY clients don’t pay for papers though… they pay for performance…I cost them more than their directors and yet they think that I am value for money…Top of the food chain mate…

13 Jun 2009, 17:24 pm
#398 Langenhoven:
don’t start quoting the electrician….remember when the tide comes in all boats rise…
13 Jun 2009, 17:24 pm
Supporting the WP is a bit like service providers in SA. So used to not to expect to much, but when they deliver, ai man.
13 Jun 2009, 17:25 pm
#383 gunther: We all know that the man stays in the war zone… but directing the troops means that you need to stay out of the brawls
13 Jun 2009, 17:25 pm
So wearing my Springbok Jersey I now wend my way into town, see you later….
Hey if you see Rugby Princess tell her I just passed Jeremy Clarkson in his car, looked like a Bentley!
#397 grootblousmile: See you Titanium x
13 Jun 2009, 17:25 pm
Boastful people are quite sad. It tells a story of weak character and feeble mind.
I pity them
13 Jun 2009, 17:25 pm
#396 carol: 5 down, 5 to go !! All are awaiting your arrival. Two glorious tries by Lions today. That was good value. Empty seats again I see. Wasn’t this the only Lions visit to Newlands?
13 Jun 2009, 17:26 pm
13 Jun 2009, 17:26 pm

So nie, sal ek jou in Engels vra…
Het jy kuk gepraat oor jou kwalifikasies op jou blog, ja of nee?
13 Jun 2009, 17:27 pm
West Indies are falling to pieces. Must be Watson’s leadership from afar that’s doing the trick.
13 Jun 2009, 17:27 pm
#411 Veltie: Ek gaan jou woord en visioen vat vir dit Veltie. Lekker dag verder.
13 Jun 2009, 17:27 pm

13 Jun 2009, 17:29 pm
Anyway, boys play nicely, I only want to see witty insults today!! Lol
13 Jun 2009, 17:29 pm
As mens 600 Pond ‘n dag verdien in Ingeland, 22 dae van die maand (werksdae) dan verdien mens so 13 200 Pond ‘n maand…. so bietjie oor R 100 000.00 per maand…. flokkkkk dis maar min, in ag genome die lewenskoste in Ingeland… ek het al offers vir dubbel dit van die hand gewys in Ingeland, met ‘n smile…
Flok, cherry-pickers verdien amper halfte soveel in Ingeland….
13 Jun 2009, 17:30 pm
Geez…Im impressed with Parnell…..huge talent.
13 Jun 2009, 17:31 pm
#413 Pietman: Come now Piet. Traditional qualifications merely represent a Western Elitist model of success, based on class and oppression through access to education.
It’s a plot to down the already downtrodden. Therefore any self-respecting anti-western idealist would not want any education to reflect negatively on their allegiance to the struggle. Working within the system to make lots of money is the way that the subversives work, enriching themselves tirelessly so that the money doesn’t end up in hands of the greedy western oppressors. It’s a hard job you know, and thankless. So thankless many of the heroes have to tell their own story as no one else will
13 Jun 2009, 17:31 pm
Parnell you LEGEND ….
13 Jun 2009, 17:33 pm
#420 grootblousmile:
13 Jun 2009, 17:33 pm
#413 Pietman: Yep mate…no qualification…I bullshitted my way to become the best in the world….Also made it through immigration without papers…You should report me to British Immigration..LMAO
13 Jun 2009, 17:34 pm

13 Jun 2009, 17:35 pm

13 Jun 2009, 17:36 pm
#422 gunther: Are you OK with the fact that he is not white???
13 Jun 2009, 17:37 pm
#426 Pietman: Sorry. Had to break it to you. I only discovered the truth myself after 2 degrees, some hons and half way into a Masters… buggar lol.
13 Jun 2009, 17:38 pm
Windies need 25 from the last over with only 1 wicket left…
13 Jun 2009, 17:39 pm
#428 Langenhoven:
don’t be a pratt… speak to the individual not the social category…
13 Jun 2009, 17:39 pm
I think the West Indies really do reflect the demography of South Africa better than the Proteas. Is Luke perhaps leading the West Indies from afar today, great leader that he is.
13 Jun 2009, 17:39 pm
#425 Langenhoven:
Thx.
Honesty has set you free at last.
Now we can talk, at your level….
13 Jun 2009, 17:41 pm
Well done Proteas
13 Jun 2009, 17:41 pm
#421 goyougoodthing2: Very close to the truth mate…lol..Che Guevara was a banker…
13 Jun 2009, 17:43 pm
#431 gunther: Lol…well done!!…You may proceed now..just checking
13 Jun 2009, 17:43 pm
OK, SA win the cricket for today as well… not a bad day at all… Baby Bokkies won, NZ lost, Proteas won…
13 Jun 2009, 17:43 pm
#430 goyougoodthing2:
Thank you, my work is done here for the nite…
I have to reflect on a few things, hehehehe!
Jeeez, some people….here on keo, I tell you…
Who are these people, not rugby folks, I am sure?
13 Jun 2009, 17:43 pm
Tight Head where’s your 50 point hiding you were promoting, if De Waal and Duvenhage and Pietersen would have kicked less we may have turned this game into a win. And Moller gave them the victory where they got out of jail.
WP almost had it in the bag in spite of all the big bok benign begrudgers that love to hate so randomly in sinc with each other. Its already in their bees knees genes all this benign bedrieglike hating they so proudly nail to their deluded ideological debauched masts.
13 Jun 2009, 17:44 pm
#433 Pietman: You will never know…dit vreet jou kop op ne… It gives me great pleasure
13 Jun 2009, 17:47 pm
#435 Langenhoven: LOL
AT least you make me laugh. Putting a smile on my face is a good thing.
#439 skopskiet: Poetry for the people… The Fist of Fury in full song!
13 Jun 2009, 17:47 pm
431.Gunther.That was an honest question from Langenhoven, whether you liked the intention or not.Not at all shallow.
13 Jun 2009, 17:48 pm
#435 Langenhoven:
President of the Bank of Cuba….look how well that turned out…
13 Jun 2009, 17:50 pm
I am quite concerned with this Parnell fellow now that I find out he’s not “white”. It’s terrible when the natives show up their former masters LOL.
Come now guys… seriously… we all need a beer together, like a castle ad but without the castle
13 Jun 2009, 17:50 pm
#443 namakwaland:
Hey, daai Kharkams of Gamoeb vraag van my is nog uitstaande….of gaan jy ook uit-chicken soos Langkop?
13 Jun 2009, 17:51 pm
#443 gunther: Banker fro Argentina… BTW…the credit crunch did not affect cuba…why?? Their economy in fact continues to grow…why??
13 Jun 2009, 17:51 pm
#442 namakwaland:
it wasn’t an honest question and you know it…it was a dig implying that I wouldn’t support an sa sportsman who wasn’t white …
13 Jun 2009, 17:52 pm
#443 gunther: Didn’t he murder a few fellows along the way too… in any case…
After 5 games I still have NO IDEA how the Lions will shape up to the Boks. This worries me both ways.
Lions look okay, Boks will be rusty, who knows what kind of combos we will play, who knows who will play where? It’s not an idea and strategically sound start to a test campaign in my opinion.
13 Jun 2009, 17:52 pm
JD Moller is a real poephol. If it wasnt for hom province would have won!! And that welsh nr 8 – Powell is a real thug. I trick pony. The bokds will smash him back so quickly he wont know if its saturday or sunday
13 Jun 2009, 17:53 pm
#447 Langenhoven:
Because they pay their peasants *****…and the landlords are cashing in.
Have you ever been to Havana?
I have.
13 Jun 2009, 17:53 pm
#416 carol: Oh, I see. Well the Newlands crowd has another chance to show up. C’mon Grant I didn’t see you today
13 Jun 2009, 17:53 pm
#446 Langenhoven: Cos Cuba isn’t exactly rolling in it are they. Anything is better than eating pooh. Apparently Zimbabwe is not being troubled by the crunch either… they have nothing to lose!
13 Jun 2009, 17:55 pm

Why don’t you go and divulge your wisdom in Havana or Harare then, old wise one?
Btw, Zim is the new investment POG in Africa, mark my words.
MorganT is going to kick your friend Mugaab out and investments will flow to that country soon….you can make bucks there, if you are prepared to do some ‘hands-on’ work.
I am checking it out right now, will let you know.

I guess Bowe & Monye cemented their test positions today. Powell has given selectors a headache. Who to choose Powell vs Heaslip? Front row not easy to pick either except for Mears. Lock position to team up with O’Connell is a dilemna too. Well Geech said he wanted selection headaches, now he’s got one or two.

#549 Langenhoven: Well the Kennedys paid the ultimate price for those multiple attempts. Fidel made only one serious, successful attempt. Tito threatened Stalin the same way, i.e. he would only need one shot. Stalin backed off. Robert K had his regrets about that afterwards.
13 Jun 2009, 19:13 pm
#564 Langenhoven: Lol, you keep making a big deal about my nick. That’s your interpretation. Small things amuse small minds hey!

13 Jun 2009, 19:18 pm
#574 Langenhoven: Suggest you read “Live By The Sword” by Gus Russo. It’s an interesting read. I think Fidel the only one with a serious motive.

13 Jun 2009, 19:24 pm
#585 poppa69: POPPA, WTF happened to the AB’s today?
13 Jun 2009, 19:24 pm
#572 grant10: Mr McAllister mate… yellow card in world cup, big red bow around the ball as he handed it off to the french player to race away and score the winning try today…
13 Jun 2009, 19:24 pm
#583 JimT: i will do Jim#582 gunther: yeah…i was there …bloody disgusting thugs…
13 Jun 2009, 19:26 pm
#587 poppa69: ok….yes…crushing blow that intercept…next week at wellington no gimmee either…those frogs will smell blood now..
13 Jun 2009, 19:28 pm
#586 Ed_the_Lion: Hey Ed.. yes mate, they were poor… lost the game in the first 30 minutes, forwards didnt turn up until then, option taking was poor… Still, they had chances to win it, Toeava dropping the ball 15 metres out with no pressure summed up the night…
Was never a fan of his either (Toeava, no BMT)… but I think its a good thing really… maybe if we lose a few inbetween world cups, we may actually do the unthinkable..
13 Jun 2009, 19:29 pm
#584 JimT:
lets just say that mr marshall and his mates did not enjoy thir finest hour… very unsavoury behaviour…
13 Jun 2009, 19:30 pm
#590 poppa69: a mate of mine remarked that he had never seen such a weak Kiwi side….yet they almost won…speaks volumes for you guys…
13 Jun 2009, 19:31 pm
#590 poppa69: I never expected the AB’s to lose. I don’t like it when the NH teams beat the SH teams.
Think the AB’s will rectify what happened today next weekend.
13 Jun 2009, 19:31 pm
#591 gunther:
did you actually see it all unfolding?
if its correct, to skinstads credit, he’s never ever moaned or spoken about the incident. had the kiwis just lost or won?
13 Jun 2009, 19:32 pm
Hey, julle willie weet hoe baaaie Keo $ het ek nie… ek sien nou eers…. flok, ek blog te veel… $ 30 375.00
13 Jun 2009, 19:32 pm

13 Jun 2009, 19:33 pm
#595 grootblousmile: Goeie mur. Dit is amper dubbel wat ek het.
13 Jun 2009, 19:34 pm
#589 grant10: hey grant…i’m impressed by province’s display today even if they didn’t win, joe pieterson is k@k under the high ball, bobo is no wing, chavanga is “mr glass”…
I’m a bit gesuip, lilith not happy about all blacks loss but she’s handling it with decorum…just fed her mum’s dog & about to go back to the pub for the england/argentina game…what’s up on your side?
13 Jun 2009, 19:34 pm
#592 grant10: mate, that openng 20 was the worst I have EVER seen from an AB side… just seemed to be no hunger, no desire… I think they were actually lacking an on field leader, someone to pull them together after the first french try and put skyrockets where the sun dont shine…
13 Jun 2009, 19:34 pm
#594 cab: i was there …right there….Stormers had beaten Saders 28….19…if memory serves me correctly….bloody Marshall…coward thug
13 Jun 2009, 19:35 pm
#597 Ed_the_Lion: En ek het dit juis rustig gevat die afgelope klompie weke…

#604 Ed_the_Lion: Nee, laat ek fokkerofski hier, ek voel nou skoon skaam oor my blogging gewoontes…
Hehehe
13 Jun 2009, 19:39 pm
#596 grant10: Interesting. Marshall was, still is, a good player but seems to have a touch of arrogance about him. When did this happen?
13 Jun 2009, 19:39 pm
#600 grant10:
according to marshall in his book they just had an argument after which skinstad stormed out and they’ve spoken about it since.
if they had an after-match barney, its a poor effort, but its happened plenty before with egos and alcohol.
13 Jun 2009, 19:39 pm
#607 grootblousmile: Cheers my maat. Hierdie BLions span wat vandag gespeel het, sal kak teen die Bulle.
13 Jun 2009, 19:39 pm
not spoken about it since.
13 Jun 2009, 19:39 pm
#593 Ed_the_Lion: not all doom and gloom as you said, was definite positives, at 17-3 I was ready to moer anything lol, only one week to avenge this loss this time… think they will largely go with an unchanged side, maybe start Latimer and revert thompson back to blindside… he is not an opensider… (eiher that or Kaino will be back).
#596 grant10: boet, where you just as disgusted when Dalton was king hit on the cavaliers tour? as Shaun would say, speak to the individual, not the national category
13 Jun 2009, 19:40 pm
genys…lots of brandy and beer…now some quality time with the blonde…have a great evening all….congrats Lions….5 from 5 is outstanding and the stage is set for a battle of note 1 st test…
Boks forever
Outta here
13 Jun 2009, 19:40 pm
#577 grant10: you were there?
13 Jun 2009, 19:40 pm
genys is gents
13 Jun 2009, 19:41 pm
#612 poppa69: One week indeed. I don’t want to hear the French if they do this 2 weeks in a row. Please make sure that it doesn’t happen.
13 Jun 2009, 19:42 pm
#608 JimT: 1998…a touch of arrogance….? Ja…i better leave this …dont want to slander…
13 Jun 2009, 19:42 pm
#615 grant10: be well boet… cheers
13 Jun 2009, 19:42 pm
#609 cab: Bobby could’ve nailed Marshall, I fail to believe he did him any damage, was probably his mates. Tremendous waste of a career tho, if there was a world player of the year award, Skinstad would’ve won it in ’98, such an exciting talent.
13 Jun 2009, 19:43 pm
#609 cab: i dont want to expand cab….long time ago…
13 Jun 2009, 19:43 pm
#616 Ed_the_Lion: me neither, because it will give them the confidence to return in 2 years time… same thing England did when they won in Aus… France play a one off against Aussie I believe…
13 Jun 2009, 19:45 pm
#621 poppa69: 100%. We cannot afford that they go into the WC with alot of confidence. That might spoil it for all of us.
13 Jun 2009, 19:45 pm
#612 poppa69: no…i agree….lets say it is old stuff and i chose to never back any kiwi again…and never will…you guys good enough …dont need this cliftonite support anyway…Bob is and always will be my favorite bok…lets say he forgave…i didnt..
13 Jun 2009, 19:46 pm
#614 Big Hit: You know anything about this BH? Me, I was out of touch with rugby back then.
13 Jun 2009, 19:46 pm
#614 Big Hit: yip
13 Jun 2009, 19:47 pm
#619 Big Hit: in 98 bob indeed touched the angels….unreal…wasted and never the same after that nite…i still get bitter
13 Jun 2009, 19:47 pm
#622 Ed_the_Lion: agreed… but then, maybe we are just trying the reverse psychology thing… you know, let them beat us inbetween WC’s, then we get to spring the “upset” lol
13 Jun 2009, 19:49 pm
#627 poppa69: Bwahaahaha. Never. Tests are to important for NZ. Think we will see next week what the AB’s can do.
13 Jun 2009, 19:49 pm
#619 Big Hit:
yeah sounds like it reading between the lines, but who knows what happened, as you say an absolute waste, very skillful skinstad, came back a different player.
#620 grant10:
no worries, cheers.
13 Jun 2009, 19:49 pm
okay…outta here…last thing….a certain person had to give bob a lift home after a car incident that nite…now thats enough from me blonde calling
13 Jun 2009, 19:50 pm
#626 grant10: he was most definitely a talented talented player…all rugby fans were disappointed with what happened Grant, but it has happened throughout the years too… anyways, I understand your reasoning, and admire that you are sticking to your guns…
13 Jun 2009, 19:51 pm
#625 grant10: fair enough my man. He was a sensation up here in 97-98, we’d never seen a backrow forward with such pace and game-breaking ability. He tore Wales and Ireland to shreads, I think Erasmus was on the other side of the scrum, just tremendous.
13 Jun 2009, 19:52 pm
#610 Ed_the_Lion: ****, **** ! Kan nie glo ‘n leeu ondersteuner kan soveel ‘sense’ praat nie.
13 Jun 2009, 19:52 pm
#628 Ed_the_Lion: They will be much better for the run, but the French will have their tails up, plus I think a few first choice players back, guess we will get to see what this new class of AB is made of… in last years 3Ns, after the loss to Aus, ABs were a completely diff team at Eden park, Im hoping they can find the same sort of desperation…
13 Jun 2009, 19:54 pm
Well Grant, Ed, BH, CAB and Jimt… apologies if Ive missed anyone… it is 4 am here, I need to sleep..
enjoy yourselves guys…
13 Jun 2009, 19:55 pm
#635 poppa69:
later poppa
13 Jun 2009, 19:55 pm
#633 BDB: Dit was ook ‘n heeltemal ander span wat teen die Leeus en Sharks gespeel het.
#634 poppa69: Big weekend next weekend. AB’s France, SA BLions and my Parents are arriving on Sat. Man, what a weekend.
13 Jun 2009, 19:55 pm
#635 poppa69: Cheers Poppa. Have a good one.
13 Jun 2009, 19:56 pm
#637 Ed_the_Lion: that it is mate… should hopefully get the right results, being ones birthday and all..
cheers
13 Jun 2009, 19:57 pm
#639 poppa69: I will make sure I sing to you.
13 Jun 2009, 20:00 pm
#635 poppa69: gnite poppa
13 Jun 2009, 20:01 pm
Argentina v England on in 60 mins, should be tough.
13 Jun 2009, 20:04 pm
Good performance by Province. They were prepared to play and showed guts and determination unlike the piss poor sharks. This team will do well in the CC this year and my early prediction is that it will be a race between them and the Bulls.
These Lions are good. Much better than most seem to think.
The Boks should have played in these games, there should not even be a debate about it.
I am worried about Saturday.
13 Jun 2009, 20:12 pm
The Sharks game was a farce, the Lions did not even attempt to kick at goal during the early part of the match. They would never have done that if their sole objective was to win the game. The game was for them nothing more than a glorified practice match.
Today they were much more serious and took every point that came their way.
13 Jun 2009, 21:23 pm
#1 Number 8: #2 cane: LOL!
13 Jun 2009, 21:25 pm
#644 cris: yes. Therefore; whose sill ultra **** sure of our Bokkies nailing the BIL’s in the first Test now? A week ago, it was no contest. Now, I suspect, doubt prevails. This is a Lions tour after all and few have sppreciated it’s real value. Until now perhaps.
13 Jun 2009, 21:28 pm
#646 TASSIES: arright, before anyone points out the obvious, the fingers are of a mind of their own. Humour them. They’re having fun.
14 Jun 2009, 08:49 am
That was flipping unfair! How much time did have to kick that stupid ball? And how come that ugly Lion didn’t get a yellow card for that dangerous tackle on Duane? And earlier why weren’t WP awarded a penalty when that high tackle was made on Joe or on Peter?
How much money did Lions give Mark? Or does Mark wanna set up the Lions to crash and burn for the Boks?
WP could have won this game. WP should have won this game.
14 Jun 2009, 11:37 am
Question KEO: Why do the B&I Lions not playing against the Blue Bulls?
Have your say
