Citing commissioner Steve Hinds of New Zealand alleged that Hines breached Law 10.4 (e) in the ninth minute of the match by lifting his opposite number, Wilhelm Steenkamp, in a tackle above the perpendicular and dropped him to the ground. Steenkamp was not injured in the tackle. Hines will appear before Judicial Officer Alan Hudson of Canada at 12:00 on Wednesday at the offices of the Western Province Rugby Union in Boundary Road, Newlands.
