that backline looks pretty weak – even the bench is cr*p.
keep it amongst the forwards boys otherwise weepee will get an historic win over you.

Does anyone have the Province team yet? If they start anyone even remotely decent in mid field the sharks are in trouble.

#3 Original Pierre: Not a bad midfield. They have both played quite a few games for the sharks.

Will be at Newlands in my black and white!!

#5: Did some googling about that the other day and found him in the Brive line up….

  • 18.Original Pierre: Reply to this comment

Thanx BYOBOY that should help us out. Riaan is okay I think, maybe not spectacular but solid enough. Andries Strauss gives me an uneasy feeling.

Joe Pietersen, Frikkie Welsh, Morgan Newman, Peter Grant, Sireli Naqelevuki, Willem de Waal, Ricky Januarie, Luke Watson (captain), Pieter Louw, Pieter Myburgh, Anton van Zyl, Chris Jack, Brok Harris, Tiaan Liebenberg, Wicus Blaauw. RESERVES: Hanyani Shimange, JD Moller, De Kock Steenkamp, Deon Fourie, Dewaldt Duvenage, Juan de Jongh, Tonderai Chavhanga

Now we can compare apples with apples.

I think it`s pretty even with Province maybe edging ahead in the backline but the sharks forwards should be able to cancel this out.. .

Well , hope it’s a nice and dry day down there comes Saturday. Forgot to ask Alister what the game plan is :) Well to be honest i think Province will give them a go. Should be a good game.

  • 30.byoboy: Reply to this comment

#22 EEE: It will be tight, I think if the sharks use there forwards they should just win. Yes there was a difference in the scores but that’s coz the B&I managed to subdue the sharks forwards which I don’t think WP will be able to do.

Sharks have developed 2 pretty good flyhalves in the recent past, but both of them are now in the Bok team.

Does this mean that the Sharks are doing something wrong?

A man who has spent the last 40 years in a coma has finally come round to the dismay of medical experts.
”We were one day away from putting an end to it all” said Professor Eggwell-Fryed, senior consultant at the Lordaffmercy Hospital in Durban.
”The nurse walked in and found him sat up in bed wondering what in the hell was going on? We explained to him he had been in a coma for 40 years and in that time Nelson had been released. The Springboks won 2 world cups.. the Bulls won the S14 again.
Professor Fryed told reporters ” I asked him if there is any you can remember from 40 years ago before you went into a coma

    He replied

Is Albert Van Den Berg still playing for The Sharks ???

Sharks need to have a bit more depth in the hooker dept, burden is just about average for currie cup and skipper is just kak. he keeps throwing the ball skew in the lineouts (must be following the line of his nose) and misses his jumpers half the time and doesn’t do too much else around the park.

Sharks need some spare wingers and centres as well

Do the Sharks really think Chris Jordaan is a decent winger? Surely there’s someone better at the club level??

  • 48.Original Pierre: Reply to this comment

Does anyone know if this Cronje guy can kick? Sharks are up agains de Waal and he`ll play to the corners all afternoon. Then WP just have to pile on the pressure and wait for our inexperienced backline to make the mistakes. But Plum would`ve told them that right . . . RIGHT?

  • 49.Sharksgirl: Reply to this comment

#48 Original Pierre: We can only hope Plum would’ve told them. Kockott is a really good kicker both out of hand and for posts, in fact he is the Sharks first choice kicker. But Saturday will have to be up to the Forwards for the Sharks – Worried very worried!

OK side, not exceptional by any means.

Stefan, whilst having the season of his life defensively in the S14 this year, is terribly one dimendional.
Same goes for Ndungane, they offer absolutely nothing on attack. I hate seeing any 14 and 15 getting caught by flankers, just not good enough.

What about that Mvovu guy? He played well against the BI Lions not long ago, one of the few players who did.

Also, would someone please tell me what value Monty Dumond gives to any side? He is the personification of average and should be relegated to club level immediately.

Too strong for WP , especially the loosies. For a moment there I read Geo Cronje LOL !!

  • 53.Greenpoint-Gunner: Reply to this comment

    #52 sparticus:

Too strong, mmmm. I don’t know. If the WP forwards can score some parity in the tight phases the backline could be able to do some damage. Seriously. In the backline the Sharks have two or three players that are arguably better than their WP counterparts. Loosies is a big plus for the banana boys, and so is the props. But for a team that won the CC last year, I would not be resting to surely if I were the Sharks…

  • 54.TheTackler: Reply to this comment

Maybe he could arrange a bit of match-fixing, like that other Cronje fellow?

  • 55.Greenpoint-Gunner: Reply to this comment

I hear that the Ebersohn brothers are in hot demand right now.

A quick question… how much money does the Bulls and Sharks have (left). I am sure that to maintain the contracts of MANY of their players is costing them an arm and a leg. Despite the fact that they have had a lot of recent success and (near) sell out crowds at most of their games…

It sounds like Sias and Robert will come as a package deal, and that will only increase the payroll. You cant spend money you don’t have. And even if they have it, how much are they willing to spend?

    Anybody any ideas?

  • 56.sharks_lover: Reply to this comment

#55 Greenpoint-Gunner: what ever you think wp have ??

times it by 20 then youll understand what sharks or bulls have

you forget the sharks havent been buying much

#53 Greenpoint-Gunner: We are not resting, but remember at end of August our big guns return, and that is when WP meets us in Durban, and of course that is true for the Bulls as well, so if were a WP I wouldn’t sleep too easily either! I am worried about this match on Saturday though!

Kyk wat raak daai frokk@n Co(e)tzee nou weer kwyt, laat my dink aan Martina Navratilova wat dit gestel het dat: The person who says it is not all about winning, probably lost…

Anyway, here is on about playing the Sharks tomorrow:

Western Province coach Allister Coetzee says it is the performance of his team not the result that will determine whether he leaves Newlands with a smile on his face after their Currie Cup opener against the Sharks on Saturday.

“In every competition it is obviously important to start well, but the result is not the be-all-and-end-all. We just want to try and get the cohesion going and although the first 20 minutes will always be a bit nervy, we know we can’t predict the result and so it’s not our focus at all. We just want to ensure that we put into practice all the systems and processes we have been working on and then go from there.”

#55 Greenpoint-Gunner: Sharks are owned 40% by SuperSport so they have money where needed.

Sharks also have divided interests into other areas sch as investments, fucntions, merchandising, photo royalties etc etc etc.

So they make money from the Season tickets 28000 @ 1000 ave, get x percent from SARU from TV etc etc.

They have big money in SA terms. The Bulls are doing even better financially I believe.
