Bath duo’s appeals rejected
8 Sep 2009
Former Bath captains Alex Crockett and Michael Lipman have lost their appeals against their nine-month suspension on Monday.
Crockett and Lipman were banned until 28 February 2010 by a three-man RFU panel in August after the pair and former Bath player Andrew Higgins missed two drug tests and were found guilty of conduct prejudicial to the interest of the game.
Higgins has since retired, but Crockett and Lipman believed that there was no lawful basis for them to be required to have extra testing, that they had suitable reasons not to take the tests and that their refusal was not prejudicial to the game.
Crockett and Lipman’s appeal was led by chairman Matthew Lohn, Philip Evans and Dr Julian Morris but they failed to convince the panel that the players’ suspension should be overturned.
The duo’s solicitor Richard Mallett said that Crockett are ‘disappointed and upset’ by the panel’s decision.
‘The RFU have yet to indicate their reasons for rejecting the grounds of appeal,’ he said. ‘Until the RFU reveals to Mr Lipman and Mr Crockett why the appeal failed, it is obviously difficult to comment further at this stage.’
The RFU is expected to release a full statement later this week.

Read some ware, that Luke Watson will actually captain Bath and that Michael Claassens are only an interim captain. Watched there game over the weekend, lost to Gloucester, Watson will have his work cut-out when he joins them later this year. Apparently the ex Springboks are eagerly awaiting his arrival, like the ******** are eagerly waiting for his departure.

What did they expect? And if you didn’t take drugs you should have no problem taking a drugs test.
Really immature.
