Waldrom sidelined again

All Blacks loose forward Scott Waldrom’s ambition of earning a call-up to the end-of-year tour squad has been hit by another injury.

Waldron missed the Tri-Nations and most of the New Zealand Cup through a back injury. A few weeks after the 29-year-old’s return to match fitness, he has been sidelined again with a knee injury and will miss Taranaki’s match against Plymouth this weekend.

Taranaki coach Adrian Kennedy hopes Waldrom can make a quick return.

‘Scott’s a big loss for us,’ he said. ‘He’s made good progress since the Canterbury match, but isn’t available on Friday. He’s gone down to Wellington and is having a scan there later in the week.

‘We’re hopeful he may be right by next week.’
