Wellington sink Southland
24 Sep 2009
A Daniel Kirkpatrick-inspired Wellington cruised to a 32-13 victory over Southland on Thursday.
The Lions led 13-3 at half-time, but some good tactical kicking and excellent distribution by Kirkpatrick allowed them to add three further tries. Hurricanes winger David Smith grabbed the bonus-point try shortly before the final whistle.
The win is a big one for Wellington who’ve suffered a slump in form in recent rounds of the New Zealand Cup.
