Canterbury to host Kiwi decider

A 20-3 win over Hawke’s Bay has earned Canterbury the right to host the New Zealand Cup final in Christchurch.

Canterbury will play the winner of Saturday’s semi-final between Wellington and Southland. They will need to improve on Friday’s game against Hawke’s Bay, as both sides made too many errors.

Locks Sam Whitelock and Isaac Ross scored in the first half to see Canterbury to a 12-3 halftime advantage. Stephen Brett’s scored from a turnover in the second half to confirm the result.

Why is Brett not considered by Henry?

I was hoping the Magpies (Hawkes Bay) could go all the way.

With an All Hurricanes Final, against Wellington.

    Never mind.

    #3 Cheetha Champs:

Canterbury went shopping in Manawatu a couple of seasons ago and bought a discount Special – 3 Whitelocks for the price of 1 (George, the Capt).

Bit of an average game. The quality is 1/2 a notch down with ABs not present, spilled balls, dropped catches. No wonder there are empty seats, fans want to see the best at the knockout stages, not some pretenders.

Having said that, the 3 Canty tries were classy. Maitland is big and fast, I.Ross is excellent around the park and Brett has nice touches altho his kicking can be woeful.

    Cmon S O U T H L A N D !

Southland may have already played their Final Batman.

Their feet may be on terra firma………but their minds?

Agreed. I also read that ‘Nibs’ Culhane was encouraging the post-Shield celebrations irrespective of the SemiF clash, so hardly the ideal preparation. Ah bugger it, we will still have the Shield for the Summer.

    That said Batman.

It ain’t done and dusted yet.

Wellington have too often failed at the last (or second last) hurdle.

Well I see they got 29 fans for this semi final, it is a joke!!

A semi final and the groundstaff outnumber the fans

Yes but we did manage to find 14 teams to play in our top devision. You only have 8 slots and could still only come up with 6 teams!

    :-)
