Tamati tweak gifts Guildford debut
30 Oct 2009
A Tamati Ellison calf strain has seen the All Blacks bringing Zac Guildford onto the bench for Saturday’s Test in Tokyo.
Ellison tweaked his calf at Thursday’s training session and did not recover in the captain’s run. Hawke’s Bay’s Guildford, who also represented the Hurricanes in the Super 14, may earn his first cap if he takes the field against Australia.
Ellison’s injury is not considered serious but the New Zealand medical staff didn’t want to risk further injury by pushing him to play.
New Zealand (revised) - 15 Mils Muliaina, 14 Cory Jane, 13 Conrad Smith, 12 Ma’a Nonu, 11 Sitiveni Sivivatu, 10 Dan Carter, 9 Jimmy Cowan; 8 Rodney So’oialo, 7 Richie McCaw (c), 6 Adam Thomson, 5 Tom Donnelly, 4 Brad Thorn, 3 Neemia Tialata, 2 Andrew Hore, 1 Tony Woodcock.

Great news !!!! What a gifted player. Very happy for him.
Real shame his old man will not be there to see his lightie run out. Every father’s dream.
I have said it before, and i will say it again – Guilford to be the top try scorer in S14 2010…..

#1 Cheetha Champs: Agreed. I’m not normally one to go for the emotional stuff, but this is a pretty unique and special story. Hope he does well-he appears to be a pretty strong character.

All Blacks great Jonah Lomu says he has never been fitter or stronger as he prepares to make his comeback as early as November with French amateur side Marseille-Vitrolles.
“I’m stronger than I’ve ever been,” Lomu told Reuters on Wednesday after being unveiled by Japanese rugby officials as an ambassador for the 2019 World Cup.
“I’m running the 100 metres in 10.9 but I’m even more surprised by what I’m doing in weights. I can dead-lift 300 kilos with my eyes closed. I am beating my previous by a country mile. I’m in the best physical condition ever.”

#9 Transformation:
Dagg couldnt catch a cold today. Overrated mfraid, needs to work on the basics before he goes anywhere near a Black jersey. Colin Slade had a good match and showed up Dagg considerably.

It’s half time and the Japanese TMO is a marked man with the crowd booing him and chanting , “NO TRY”.

#6 cane:
do you know if he’s related to Rhy Ellison, ex Otago and Waikato centre ? he was 1 of the hardest tacklers Ive ever seen, a Maori De Wet Barry crash-tackling type.
Have your say
