Racing stun Toulouse
Racing Metro recorded a massive upset when they defeated French giants Toulouse 27-20 on Saturday.
Racing featured Springbok utility player Frans Steyn at outside centre while former Bok loose forward and now regular Toulouse No 8 Shaun Sowerby featured for the visitors. Steyn’s massive boot wasn’t required on this occasion, as Jonathan Wisniewski edged Freddie Michalak in the goal-kicking battle.
Lock Ross Skeate went up against former WP team-mate Rob Linde in the lineout when Toulon played Bayonne, Toulon continuing their good form with a 14-8 victory. Former Lions hooker Willie Wepener came off the bench in Clermont’s 19-19 draw with Stade Francais.
Jean de Villiers scored a try in Munster’s comfortable 24-10 win over Ulster while in England Bath captain Michael Claassens once again scored in a losing cause. The South African-powered Saracens consolidated their position at the top of the Premiership with a 12-11 victory over Bath.
