Rossouw lauds Bulls’ mettle

Bulls backline coach Pieter Rossouw says the senior players’ experience made all the difference in a high pressure situation.

The Bulls boasted a number of Springboks in their line-up, players that were involved in a Tri-Nations victory and a series win over the British & Irish Lions. They also had the same team that captured the Super 14 title earlier this year.

The Cheetahs came back strongly in the second half, but Rossouw said it was the Bulls’ experience that prevented an upset.

‘We have a lot of gamebreakers in our side, and those players know how to win,’ he said. ‘This is a special side.’

Man of the match Fourie du Preez also lauded the character of his team-mates in a contest that was tighter than the scoreline suggested.

‘It’s an unbelievable feeling. The guys showed a lot of character in the Super 14 and again today.’
