Boks positive ahead of opener

Dick Muir says there is a good vibe among the players as the Springboks prepare for their first match against the Leicester Tigers.
The Springbok match 22 and management arrived in London on Wednesday and started with training later in the afternoon.
Muir, who is caretaking the side in the absence of Springbok coach Peter de Villiers, said the players want a solid start to the tour.
‘The mood in the camp is positive and the players are determined to get the tour off to a good start,’ said Muir. ‘The new guys are full of enthusiasm and I hope this reflects in their performance on Friday.’
Muir added that Leicester should provide a good challenge in front of a sold-out crowd at Welford Road, despite the hosts losing some key players to the national side.
‘Although the Tigers have lost a few of their top players to the England squad, they have good depth and will be tough opponents.’
The Springboks will wrap up their preparations with a captain’s run on Thursday. De Villiers will then meet up with the team on Friday morning, while the rest of the squad will join them in France next week.

The boks had better win this one, else the senior team may have a headache with their “aura” missing.

The young Turks may be shown up by a very experienced Tigers outfit. But the vibe within that saffa squad must be simply awesome. Anyone remember that feeling of anticipation when a snotgat laaitie goes to school sub. a. Those trips with your old man and his mates when they go out on Sundays fishing. This was the sort of thing which kept boys awake whole night. To the likes of Dewalt, De Jongh, Heinie, etc go out and come back battered and bruised with a lot of pride. Win or lose, this is what makes that jersey special.
