MacDonald set for debut
Andy Robinson has made three changes to his team for Scotland’s match against Argentina on Saturday.
The most significant change to the match 22 that beat the Wallabies last weekend is the inclusion of Alan MacDonald. The flank has impressed for his club Edinburgh and had a good outing against Tonga for Scotland A.
MacDonald now replaces John Barclay, who made a massive defensive contribution in Scotland’s win last Saturday, in the starting line-up.
‘John Barclay played really well but Alan MacDonald has been really pushing for a spot in the way he has been playing for Edinburgh’, said head coach Robinson. ‘This gives me an opportunity, through the victories we’ve had, to put him in.’
The other changes see Ben Cairns start in the midfield in place of Graeme Morrison , while Thom Evans also features on the wing as Simon Danielli sits out.
Scotland – 15 Rory Lamont, 14 Sean Lamont, 13 Ben Cairns, 12 Alex Grove, 11 Thom Evans, 10 Phil Godman, 9 Chris Cusiter (c), 8 Johnnie Beattie, 7 Alan MacDonald, 6 Alasdair Strokosch, 5 Alastair Kellock, 4 Nathan Hines, 3 Moray Low, 2 Ross Ford, 1 Allan Jacobsen.
Subs: 16 Dougie Hall, 17 Kyle Traynor, 18 Jason White, 19 Richie Vernon, 20 Rory Lawson, 21 Chris Paterson, 22 Nick de Luca.
