Barry’s not a Bull

De Wet Barry will play in the 2010 Vodacom Cup for Eastern Province and only be called upon by the Bulls in case of emergency.

This was the official line from the Bulls, who were responding to media reports that the former Springbok inside centre had joined in the franchise for their 2010 Super Rugby campaign.

They sought to clarify the situation, saying, ‘Barry is going to train with the Bulls in George [at the pre-season camp], but he will play for Eastern Province in next year’s Vodacom Cup and they will continue to pay his salary. If the Bulls need him, say for instance in case of injury, they will be able to call on him.’

Wynand Olivier will be the incumbent 12 for the tournament, with cover being provided by Stefan Watermeyer.

Yes, and 2 of those tries were against the unstoppable Samoa and 1 against the biggest force in world rugby Canada. They were some of the greatest tries ever seen. Or not.

De Wet started in 34 of those 39 tests and Wynand started only 16 of the 27 tests. Clearly De Wet had more playing opportunity and to only score against the two teams who would in all probability lose against Boland is a clear indication of his ‘class’.

Also considering the fact that De Wet is 31 years old and Wynand only 26, I can asure you that Wynand still has a lot to accomplish where as De Wet is a has been.
