Dupuy could face hefty ban
14 Dec 2009
Stade Francais No 9 Julien Dupuy has been accused of eye-gouging in the 23-13 defeat against Ulster on Saturday.
The French international was sin-binned for a shoulder charge off the ball during the game, but could now face serious punishment after Ireland flank Stephen Ferris has accused Dupuy of attacking his eye.
‘He said to me ”I did not do anything” and I said ”we’ll soon see”,’ said Ferris.
It has been reported that there is sufficient video evidence of the incident, so an official citing is expected.

Dupuy is guilty and should receive the maximum ban. What he did was outrageous and the worst case of eye-gouging I have seen. He had three or four goes at the eyes. I wouldn’t mind if he was never allowed to play rugby again.

Definitely the worst and most deliberate case of eye gouging I have seen. Pretty shocking and dumb.

he could argue he was concussed – that seems to be a good excuse these days for doing stupid things on a rugby field.
It worked for Mujati and O’Gara claimed he was concussed when he took out FdP.
That said he should get a hefty ban, that was not accidental and ot was on more than one occasion.

He’s utterly gone. A career-ending clobbering is justly due. See you later.

yes but O’ Gara paid dearly for his indiscretions so we can let him off the hook.

He will be lucky if he ever gets to play again. Despicable.

Cheeky little *****… Couldn’t get it rite the 1st time, so he had a 2nd go! They should slap a 2 year ban on this rubbish… What is he trying to do, blind the guy?

@Limerick-Bok: I think he was frustrated, Ferris was menace at the breakdowns and driving guys back in the tackle and Stade just couldn’t gain any momentum.
Have your say
