Bolla off to Boland
15 Dec 2009
Bolla Conradie will continue his career with the Boland Kavaliers in the Currie Cup First Division next season.
Conradie has fallen out out of favour at Western Province, where he found himself third on the pecking order below Dewaldt Duvenage and Ricky Januarie.
The former Springbok No 9 will take the place of Marnus Hugo, who left Boland and signed with Griquas next season.
The Kavaliers have also signed Emerging Bok and Sharks lock Nikolai Blignaut and Pumas centre Tyron Hysse as they look to make an immediate return to the top flight.

Bolla of 2002 was exeptional, he nudged Niel De Kock from the starting line up hands down!
As from 2004 onward he has been simply a quota must, so bad it forced WP to sign January to fill the nunbers game
Now he was dumped into the wasteland of Boland, he might belonged there!

Two things come to mind from a Province point of view…
One is “good riddance”.
The other is “why only now”.
Hy en Chester gaan mos lang wyne maak daar.

Who is Bolla Conradie… that oke that kept Neil De Kock on the bench saving his ***?

@bryce_in_oz:
Ah yeah… where is Bolla… and where is Neil?
Rhetorical of course if you watch NH rugga… or SH for that point!

Good luck Bolla, thanks for your great efforts and contribution through the years.
At 31 years of age after 78 Stormer Caps and 18 tests he is probably past his peak.
Mind you, I saw him a while ago at a local Virgin Active club and was surprised to see the good shape he was in – lean, ripped and strong.
Will still be more than a handful in the B section.

Great player in 2002….but rubbish since.
He never sorted out his looping pass to his right.

Ah, I see you still haven’t changed your bigoted ways. Sad really!!

Use your experience and bring through some youngsters, Bolla. Good move by Chester. Now you need to bring back the likes of Guthrow, Wayne, Johnson, Wayne van Heerden, Francis, Heini etc and use them as the core players in the quest to rebuild Boland.

@CenturionShark (aka LondonShark):
I think he was rubbish since late 2005 when he played his last good game for the Boks against Argentina.
I remember he kicked a drop goal at a crucial time and also made Jaque Fourie’s try.
He was good in 2004 when the Stormers made the S12 semis and the Boks won the Tri Nations.

@nama1:
Eugene Eloff is the one calling the shots. I think Chester is either out or no longer involved in coaching (thank goodness)

@wpw:
I see you still cannot answer the question… nor watch rugby union outside of the Cape… nor get over your race obsession…
Google Neil De Kock… Captain and NH legend… nothing to do with race… simple calibre… still achieving day in and day out…
Awesome South African…

@wpw:
Yeah, you right. Eugene Eloff is DOR.

@bryce_in_oz: Yes true , also am big fan of Neil De Kock but give Bolla his due. Thanks Bolla , U were a great ambassador for WP and Stormers rugby , Good luck , personally I think u should have retired but hey surprise us !!

Wasn’t Bolla Conradie man of the match in the first test against Wales last year?
If guy’s can get past their provicial bias/ racism/ etc. you have to agree that he’s been a good professional, a great servant for WP, and I can’t recall him ever letting down the Boks either.

@crazy ******:
I agree. He was selected ahead of De Kock because Niel was hopelessly off form at the time. Bolla took his chance and Niel left.
De Kock is a damn fine player but he went through a bad spell with injuries and loss of form.

@crazy ******:
Some people on here will only look at your last bad game (if you are a player of colour) and then paint your whole playing career with that one game.
Sad really.

It’s Hyron Tysse, not Tyron Hysse. Seems more like a copy & paste job, journo’s se poephol
15 Dec 2009, 17:42 pm
can’t we send Ricky to Boland and have Bolla stay here?
16 Dec 2009, 11:07 am
best of luck bolla….great wp a..stormers and bok servant over the years…
16 Dec 2009, 13:32 pm
@wpw:
Fair points.
His really battled with his passing at times. The power just wasn’t there.
Always though test rugby (in general) was too much for Bolla. He did have a few good tests though.
16 Dec 2009, 15:44 pm
He’s been kak for a while now.
Cheers Bolla, he was good in his prime for WP but there are better around that him in the cape now. No loss whatsoever
Have your say
