SA to face Scots
The Springboks will play Scotland during next year’s November internationals at Murrayfield.
Recent reports suggested that the Boks will undertake a Grand Slam tour the year before the World Cup in New Zealand, and now the BBC reported the defending World Champions will definitely play Scotland next year. Scotland’s other opponents during that period are New Zealand and Samoa.
Saru acting MD Andy Marinos also told keo.co.za recently that the Boks will play Ireland at the opening of their Aviva Stadium and the Barbarians on this tour, further lengthening their stay up north under a year before the World Cup begins.

Lets hope they send a second side dragons or we can kiss old Bill Ellis goodbye..
December 15th, 2009 at 5:53 pm
F@#$%g stupid!!! How dumb can they still become?
December 15th, 2009 at 6:40 pm
Its cool guys. Will give them more exposure to playing away from home and in NZ like conditions.
To win a grand slam will only increase the confidence of the Boks in the RWC. We might meet one of the Home Unions on the way to successfully defending our title…

Too much rugby for next year. Can see plenty injuries if the players are not looked after. Boks should not play in the CC if they are to play a Grand Slam at the end of the year. Think against the BaaBaas it will be our 2nd side similar to what NZ done this year to give the players a break.
December 15th, 2009 at 7:04 pm
perhaps theyve chosen Scotland to increase the win percentage in the NH
December 15th, 2009 at 7:05 pm
Why is everybody going on and on about the fact that the Springboks are playing too many internationals and that they need rest? Let them rest during the Currie Cup and Super 14 if need be. They need the games as Springboks, especially in NH conditions, particularly after their disgraceful tour up north this year. They can only benefit as a squad and find who is really up for it come 2011.

Bok 2010 end of year fixtures:
6th v Ire
13th v Wal
20th v Scot
27th v Eng
4th v Barbars
Crazy tour at the end of a long season before a RWC season.

Great.
So we get to moer naam weg
in the countries we haven’t this year on the EOTYT
Maybe we should lose to a few
second string club sides like this here
to further our talent finding and building issues ‘ey.
December 16th, 2009 at 12:07 am
Big Apple. Totally agree. The Boks should play in tests and very selectively (after an injury comeback) in the CC. Otherwise don’t play the Boks in the CC at all. Waste of time and risk to injury. SA should get to the same situation as New Zealand to be able to fields 2 totally different teams 2 consecutive Saturdays without a drop in quality and still win convincingly against NH teams.

Can’t be worse than your WC efforts
December 16th, 2009 at 2:23 am

December 16th, 2009 at 3:33 am
Scotland are a bunch of easybeats. Remember 44-0?
December 16th, 2009 at 5:18 am
@Hurricane: @TheTackler:
Nah, the last game of the season is what is still fresh in my mind. What was the score again?
December 16th, 2009 at 7:31 am

oh, you meant an unimportant exhibition match..
December 16th, 2009 at 10:14 am
just heared JP Peterson was in a car crash. Luckily with only a cut above his eye …. car is a total write off … he hit a truck. Lucky to escape!
December 16th, 2009 at 10:30 am
@Ultimate:
Where did the accident take place?
December 16th, 2009 at 10:37 am
“A second member of Australia’s national rugby union team has been ordered to appear in court after being charged by police with a criminal offence.
Flyhalf Kurtley Beale was charged with assault after an incident at a family birthday party this year and will appear in a Sydney court next month, local media reported on Wednesday.” (News 24)
What’s wrong with these Aussies?
December 16th, 2009 at 10:42 am
Graeme Smith out for a duck. SA 1/1 in the second over. Amla in.
December 16th, 2009 at 11:05 am
With this schedule it becomes even more vital to start blooding young guns and to have faith in them…..
Also the use of the saffas playing overseas is important….
Cant expect the Matfields,Bakkies, Smits to carry this workload and be around in 2011.
The player management crucial in 2010.
December 16th, 2009 at 11:06 am
Hope JPP okay….bad news that!
December 16th, 2009 at 11:31 am
players that will be required to carry boks through 2010 and 2011 should, at this stage, be
F STEYN….Z KIRCHNER
B HABANA …JPP….MAPOE….NOKWE
J FOURIE J DE JONGH…ADI JACOBS….J DE VILLIERS….W OLIVIER
M STEYN…P GRANT
F DU PREEZ…JANO VERMAAK…H ADAMS
BEAST…GEINKE…WIAAN DU PREEZ
SMIT…BISMARCK…MAKU
BJ…CJ…WP NEL
BAKKIES MATFIEL…A BEKKER…JUANDRE KRUGER
BRUSSOW…L WATSON…
SCHALK…J SMITH…DEYSEL
SPIES D POTGIETER, D VERMEULEN.
With the correct mix n match sufficient quality to man manage the squad through to 2011 without playing players into the ground.
pdv must have faith and share the workload.

I quite like the idea of Morne Steyn at fullback…
Imagine a backline of:
9 Ruan Pienaar
10 Peter Grant
11 Bryan Habana
12 Jean de Villiers
13 Jaque Fourie
14 JP Pietersen
15 Morne Steyn
With Jano Vermaak, Adi Jacobs and Frans Steyn on the bench…
December 16th, 2009 at 5:14 pm
@WP Till I Die: Sorry WP, but with that backline we will go out against Ireland in the quater finals!
December 16th, 2009 at 5:24 pm
@WP Till I Die: Have to agree with Johan there WPTID. I would have Mapoe at 14 and Frans Steyn at 15. Leave Morne at 10 he wont disappoint us again. He will get those kicking boots back for sure
Otherwise Ruan can play 10. He is a very good FH just not good at kicking at goal. With Fransie there Ruan could just play FH and forget about the kicks.
December 16th, 2009 at 5:29 pm
@Puma: Hey Puma! The backline that played in the Tri-Nations is well balanced and sdhould play in the WC. JP will be back to form.
F.Steyn
JP
Fourie
de Villiers
Habana
M.Steyn
FdP
December 16th, 2009 at 5:32 pm
Our biggest headache is a second 10. BIG headache! Pienaar is our 2nd best, but he must want to play 10. Luckily we still have 18 months or so. Lets hope someone steps up!
December 16th, 2009 at 5:36 pm
The team that should play the EOYT in 2010 :
Z.Kirchner
L.Mapoe
A.Jacobs
W.Olivier
J.Nokwe
R.Pienaar
H.Adams
D.Potgieter
J.Deysel
S.Burger
A.Bekker
D.Rossouw
WP.Nel
B.du Plessis
W.du Preez
December 16th, 2009 at 5:36 pm
@Johan Fourie: 25 – Howzit Johan, Yes agree. If any has to be changed then JPP if he does not keep up to where he was during the year. Mapoe just waiting for that position. JPP needs to get it together next year. He will though he is a class player.
December 16th, 2009 at 5:37 pm
@Johan Fourie: 27 – Agree there good selection.
Johan I am going out now. Will catch up another time.
Cheers mate.
December 16th, 2009 at 5:38 pm
@Puma: Cheers Puma!
December 16th, 2009 at 8:20 pm
stupid fkn mofos… money talks
December 17th, 2009 at 7:50 am
I would hope that SARU send an up and coming side to tour for the end of year a) It will give the senior players some rest b) identify new talent which maybe needed as back up for the WC …. Ofcourse this will never happen and injuries will reign supreme
December 17th, 2009 at 2:10 pm
@WP Till I Die: Love the backline, but Morne cant tackle well enough for fullback? His boot would be handy tho?
December 17th, 2009 at 2:18 pm
@Mfwethu:
He didn’t do too badly at fullback playing for the Barbarians against New Zealand a week or two ago…
The main idea is to have a running/distributive flyhalf and a 95%-kicker in the run-on – an axis of Pienaar-Grant-De Villiers will see a lot more ball being given flight to the wings, then you have the security of Morne Steyn who will kick most over.
December 18th, 2009 at 2:35 pm
The answer to this comes from this years plan. Take 40 players on the tour and let the C and D teams have a run.
