After reading the article, and in the spirit expressed by Mr Sneddon, I may be able to help someone out. We have a 2 bedroom guest house on our property that could be made available during the RWC (it is only used for our guests normally). It is fully self contained with cooking facilities etc. We are situated around 15 – 20 minutes drive north of the ‘North Shore’ where the boks will be based, and about 5 minutes drive from the park where the Namibian guys (plus Samoa and Asia 1) will train. There are beaches 5 minutes walk from the front door in either direction. Place is suitable for 3 or 4 guests, but you will need wheels to get around unless you are happy doing a fair bit of walking and using the bus service (which is only average out to where we live). There is a small beachside township 3 minutes drive or 15 minutes walk away with bars, restaurants and all the usual services. Eden Park is approx 45 minutes drive outside rush hour, but better to use public transport on game days. North Harbour stadium is only 15 minutes drive if any games are there.
It is also possible that I can make a Houseboat available in downtown Auckland with room for around 4 – 6 people (4 doubles and 1 single. Again, fully self contained so you need to be able to look after yourselves. If you like to party, this boat is based 10 minutes walk from the downtown Viaduct area where I am sure much of the action will be based. The guest house is adjacent to our home and is not suitable for loud or drunken behaviour as we have young children.
