Racing sink Wasps

An injury-time penalty from Jonathan Wisniewski handed Racing Metro a 19-17 win over Wasps in Paris.

The London club out-scored their hosts by two tries to one, but eventually their indiscipline cost them as the Racing flyhalf slotted the decisive kick. Wasps flank Dan Ward-Smith had earlier been sin-binned in the 57th minute.

The loss means Wasps will have to rely on other results to see if they host a quarter-final in the European Challenge Cup.

Frans Steyn started at inside centre for Racing, while Jacques Cronje was used as a replacement for the final 14 minutes.

    Steyn did a try saver, held a player up over the line. Quite an exciting game.

    @Kobus Kitty: He also chucked a pass that lead to Wasps’ first try.

    But on defence he’s very strong. :cool:

    Good match. Setanta commentators biased for Wasps. Steyn’s class showed. Great anticipation on defense. Made the gain line and presented well. Threw a couple of great long passes. Two mistakes I saw. But looked a bit heavy!! And his hair slows him.

    I was watching on Sky sport. The were biased for Cipriani and presented the game as display of two glamour boys.
    Fransie is always joy to watch but I noticed that his teammates ignored him while passing a ball a couple of times.. Also two kicks charged down. Maybe he wa distracted a bit by latest pictures’ scandal.

    @haribaldi:

    Impossible, he claims he has lost 10kgs in the top 14 to be lighter on the field due to it being wet most of the time.

    I know (he claims 10kg loss). I’m just saying. The man looked bulky on my HDTV. Possibly the super-tight, light-blue horizontal stripes. He was stil the best player on the field. Wish the frogs would pass him the ball.
