Munster in hot water

Two days after the Ricky Januarie/Ospreys investigation opened, Munster have now been probed for having Wian du Preez on loan this season.

On Wednesday keo.co.za reported that the Ospreys were being investigated for having Springbok and Stormers scrumhalf Januarie on loan for two months, where he played in four matches for the Welsh club in the European Cup.

Under the competition’s regulations, a player must be signed on a minimum of three months to be eligible to play.

Munster are now being investigated for signing Bok and Cheetahs loosehead Du Preez on a two-month deal.

Du Preez joined Munster in December because the Irish club was suffering a prop-injury crisis at the time. The 27-year-old played in four European Cup matches and two Magners League fixtures for them.

He then left in January to join the Cheetahs for their Super 14 preparations.

It is reported, however, that Munster are confident that the Du Preez deal does comply with the tournament’s rules.
