Clermont edge Perpignan

Clermont moved to the head of the Top 14 table with a 22-17 win over Perpignan on Friday.

The teams were 6-6 at half-time but Clermont had the final say thanks to flyhalf Brock James. Former Cheetahs fullback Phillip Burger started for Perpignan.

In other European action, BJ Botha produced a powerful showing in a losing cause for Ulster as the Belfast side went down 25-8 to Scarlets.
