Saffas abroad

Keo.co.za looks at the South Africans who have performed in Europe this weekend.
A conversion, drop goal and two penalties from Frans Steyn wasn’t enough to secure victory for Racing Metro. They lost 22-19 to Montpellier, and have complicated their route to the play-offs.
A Joe van Niekerk-led Toulon edged Biarritz 21-20 to move into fifth in the Top 14, while Sam Gerber scored in Bayonne’s 46-13 massacre of Albi.
Toulouse powered to a convincing 29-0 win over Stade Francais in Paris. Daan Human and Shaun Sowerby came off the bench. Sadly the match also saw former Sharks flyhalf Frederic Michalak tear his cruciate knee ligaments. The injury has ruled him out for the remainder of the season.
Former Cheetahs fullback Phillip Burger started for Perpignan in their crucial 22-17 defeat to Clermont.
In the Premiership in England, Juandre Kruger helped Northampton to a 15-7 win against Sale. The victory keeps them in touch with Leicester at the top of the table.
A Saffa-laden Saracens lost vital ground on the leaders when they lost 19-12 to Leeds – Derick Hougaard kicking two penalties and two conversions.
Michael Claassens and Luke Watson were solid in Bath’s narrow 17-13 win against Newcastle.
In other European action, BJ Botha produced a powerful showing in a losing cause for Ulster as the Belfast side went down 25-8 to Scarlets.

realistically, only Steyn and BJ have a chance of returning to the Boks.

@BULLET: Although Juandre Kruger’s return to SA will be interesting to follow! I suppose one can also say that only the 3 of them might be interested in a return.

Solid is such an iffy word to describe a performance. Doesnt really mean anything

Look to perform in this 2nd rated tournament like the Premiership is not actually rocket science, Jake Boer was a great player in the UK but could not get into the Stormers side

@BULLET: Juandre Kruger will come back, and will wear the Bok jersey. He is all class….

If Derick Hougaard kicked two penalties and two conversions that means that the Saracens score should have been at least 20, so how can they lose 19 – 12?
Have your say
