Aled promoted for Kiwi derby
Aled de Malmanche and Craig Clarke will start as Ian Foster looks to bolster the Chiefs’ tight five for the Crusaders clash.
Clarke has recovered from a groin strain suffered in the round two match against the Lions while De Malmanche comes in for the injured Hika Elliot.
Sione Lauaku sits out the match after having an assault charge laid against him. Colin Bourke remains at No 8.
‘I expect a real lift in our intensity, back to the levels we achieved in the first couple of weeks,’ said coach Ian Foster. ‘Certainly there were some individuals last week that didn’t get to the level they would have wanted.
‘There’s been an opportunity to reflect on our first four games, and whilst we were frustrated with our last performance, overall the squad has made great progress.’

Blackadder has resisted bringing Chris Jack back into the mix, despite his being fit for selection.
The other change sees Kahn Fotuali’i start in place of injured scrumhalf Andy Ellis.

These Dragons will be in the semi’s.. imo.

Is Richie only covering blindside while Waldrom recovers from his injury, or is this a tactical change to the new interpretations limiting his effectiveness as a cheat?

I would have been starting with Aled all season, gives the chiefs pack so much more starch and always makes ground with the ball..
going on the Reds game it looks like he has been working on his lineout throws..

@poppa69: Yeah…I rate Aled, but I don’t think Chiefs will make the semi’s..not after losing to Reds at home..?

@Storm outta hell: I think the reds actually have a good shot at making the semis, think everyone is under estimating them at their own peril… They could have quite easily have been 4 for 4 this season…
chiefs will challenge for a spot, they have enough talent in their side to ensure theyll be there or thereabouts..

@poppa69: Agreed…but losing at home to Reds I did not expect..
Have your say
