Keo.co.za brings you the latest Super 14 news from Australia.

Another Tah commits

Daniel Halangahu has signed a two-year extension to his contract with the Waratahs on Wednesday.

Berrick Barnes and Tom Carter announced their contract extensions with the Tahs this week and pivot Halangahu now joins the list.

The Tahs are committing their players before the ARU’s player deadline (15 March) as the Melbourne Rebels will be able to negotiate deals with any non-contracted Australian players for 2011 – their debut Super Rugby season.

Wallabies prop Benn Robinson and No 8 Wycliff Palu are expected to announce their extended deals as they are in process of finalising their new contracts with the Tahs and ARU.

    Bumbling dragons.

Again the Waratahs are going to be their own worst enemy by trying to fit as many flyhalves as they can in a backline at once.
Their current record I believe is three, but with Barnes signing on for another year I think they can make it to four easy.
Then they re-sign specialist inside centre Tom Carter to play outside centre, and spend a bunch of money poaching Drew Mitchell to play fullback only to put the contact-fearing winger Anesi there.

All this while claiming they want to play running rugby, yet keep the 120kg try-scoring machine Nemani Nadolo out of their matchday 22 week after week.

    Rant over.

    For now…

@DonutDunning: Totally aggree. why do they keep trying to push players into foreign positions. Hasn’t worked in the past and wont work in the future. Another mediocre year for the Tahs I fear. Get Mitchell to fullback – drop Anesi and get the wrecking ball out onto the wing. Apparently he is 125kg ATM. Hope he doesn’t have to turn quickly.
