Proteas power Warriors to glory
12 Mar 2010
Ashwell Prince and Jacques Kallis smashed half centuries to set up a 82-run win in the Pro20 final on Friday.
Prince, who also scored a century in the MTN40 final triumph, hit 69 off 52 on this occasion. Prince and Kallis (55) recorded 129 for the first wicket, while Colin Ingram and Mark Boucher displayed some good hitting at the death.
Chasing a formidable 187, the Lions failed to form partnerships and no individual batsman scored higher than 15. The Warriors’ Proteas also performed on the bowling front, Makhaya Ntini, Johan Botha and Nicky Boje claiming two scalps apiece.
Left-armer Wayne Parnell was also amongst the wickets, and affected a sharp run-out to dismiss Aaron Phangiso. Rusty Theron took his second wicket when he castled Ethan O’Reilly, a wicket that brought an end to the Lions’ final resistance.
Warriors – 186-2 in 20 overs

Lions – 104 all out in 17.5 overs
