Justin Kemp claimed three vital wickets in Chennai’s 55-run win over the Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday.
Despite a slow start to the innings, Chennai managed to post a competitive total of 164-3 thanks to a 109-run fourth wicket stand between Subramaniam Badrinath (43*) and skipper MS Dhoni (63*).
Kolkata never gained momentum in their innings as they were bowled out for 109. Kemp dismissed Knightriders captain Sourav Ganguly, Sri Lankan all-rounder Arnold Mathews and R Gavaskar to finish with figures of 3/12.
Albie Morkel also picked up a wicket as he dismissed Brad Hodge for a duck in the first over.
Chennai Super Kings 164-3 (20 overs)
MS Dhoni 66*, Subramaniam Badrinath 43*, Brad Hodge 1-4.
Kolkata Knight Riders 109 all out (19.2 overs)
WP Saha 22, Murali Kartik 21, Justin Kemp 3-12.
