Tendulkar shines for Mumbai

Sachin Tendulkar scored 63 in the Mumbai Indians’ 98-run defeat of the Delhi Daredevils.

The India opener scored his runs off 32 deliveries and shared a solid partnership with Saurabh Tiwary, who himself impressed in his innings of 61 off 37.

In response, the much vaunted Daredevils top order, with AB de Villiers at No 3, failed to lay the platform in the run chase. De Villiers, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Virender Sehwag and Faeez Maharoof got starts but failed to kick on.

Sanath Jayasuriya was the pick of the Indians’ bowlers – his four overs costing just 17 runs and yielding two wickets.

Mumbai Indians 218-7 (20 overs)
Sachin Tendulkar 63, Saurabh Tiwary 61
Delhi Daredevils 120 (16.3 overs)
Faeez Maharoof 28, Virender Sehwag 26, Sanath Jayasuriya 2-17
Mumbai won by 98 runs
