Viljoen’s sin revealed

Fullback Riaan Viljoen was suspended for the Cheetahs’ trip to Newlands after skipping practice.

Assistant coach Hawies Fourie said on Tuesday that the Bloemfontein franchise would not reveal the details of Viljoen’s misdemeanour, but a reliable source in the Cheetahs camp told keo.co.za that Viljoen was banned for missing training last Friday.

‘Riaan broke the team’s curfew after having a late night on Thursday,’ he said. ‘He then missed practice the next day [Friday].

‘He has been suspended for the Stormers game, but will play for Griquas’ Vodacom Cup side. I’m sure Riaan will be able to sort this out with [head coach] Naka Drotske and the other coaches quite soon.’

Viljoen’s suspension sees Hennie Daniller retaining his starting place at fullback for Saturday’s match.

Why is my comment awaiting moderation :?:
Is it not allowed to critisize Gareth and to point out where information is openly available rather than using “relaibel sources?

Cheetahs should fire the lad for this. Although the Bulls would probably lap him up. ;-)

He should get some tips on ‘playing’ the union from Pedrie.

This is a good thing. Players should be put into place. This is a pro game, not a Bafana Bafana free-4-all. (My point is, Bafana should be more strict with players… otherwise they’ll never become pro)

Probably safe to assume his ‘late night’ didn’t involve studying opposition teams’ moves?

This is really schocking. This youngster must realise what a priveledge it is to be playing professional rugby. Its also his livelyhood.
