Bangalore down Royals
14 Apr 2010
The Royal Challengers Bangalore secured a five-wicket victory against the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on Wednesday.
Bangalore dominated from the outset as the Royals batting order failed to fire. After 10 overs, they found themselves at a disappointing 53-4. However, late cameos from AS Raut (32* off 20 balls) and Adam Voges (28* off 27 balls) saw the Royals reach 130 as the duo put together a 58-run partnership.
The Challengers’ bowling attack performed well as Pankaj Singh (2-27), Jacques Kallis (1-19) and Dale Steyn (1-15) all had impressive four-over spells.
Bangalore lost Kallis early but Kevin Pietersen’s 62 off 29 balls saw them chase down Rajasthan’s total with ease. A couple wickets fell at the death but eventually Ross Taylor smashed a six in the 16th over to secure the win.
