Mumbai power into final
21 Apr 2010
The Mumbai Indians secured a convincing 35-run win against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first semi-final on Wednesday.
It was a disappointing start for the home team as they lost in-form batsman Sachin Tendulkar cheaply after the little maestro was caught off a Dale Steyn delivery. Things didn’t get any better for Mumbai as they slumped to 68-4 by the eighth over.
However, the middle order fired for the Indians as A Rayudu (40 off 38 balls), S Tiwary (52* off 31 balls) and Kieron Pollard (33* off 13 balls) saw their team to 184-5 at the end off the innings.
Bangalore had a strong start to their chase but they lost too many wickets regularly as they needed to put a good partnership together. Once Jacques Kallis, Kevin Pietersen, Robin Uthappa and Rahul Dravid were dimissed, the rest of their line-up collapsed.
Pollard completed a Man of the Match performance with the ball as he finished with bowling figures of 3-17 off his four overs.
Mumbai Indians 184-5 (20 overs)
S Tiwary 52*, A Rayudu 40, Dale Steyn 2-43.
Royal Challengers Bangalore 149-9 (20 overs)
Ross Taylor 31*, Robin Uthappa 26, Kieron Pollard 3-17.
Mumbai Indians won by 35 runs

@grant10: Hello bud. I have a question.
Being quite removed from cricket in general.
Is this format taking on in SA? And is anyone in SA interested in the IPL?
Just wondering.

@grant10: I was wondering. Seems to be no interest really on Keo.
I am a Test match fan through and through – although as a sport it’s impossible to really follow from a distance I find.
50 Overs I also love, as it also bends and shapes it’s way through a tactical & strategic progression.
20/20 – reading it sounds like a biff and bash game. But I have never watched a game, so my commentary is uninformed.

@grant10: Some of my fondest memories are sitting through a test at Newlands in the sun, and for whatever reason my feet get moer of a sunburnt. Beers, conversations, the Mountain, cricket, beers, beers, popping over to Kelvin for a swim. Yeah baby.
