Another AB off to Europe

Toulon have reported that they have signed All Blacks and Blues wing Rudi Wulf on a two-year deal.

Wulf mentioned that he wanted to fight for a spot back into the All Blacks squad, however after being left out of the team for the June Test Series, the four-Test wing has decided to accept a lucrative deal from the Toulon.

It is believed that Joe Rokocoko was Toulon’s first choice but after he was selected in the All Blacks squad, the opportunity was passed on to Blues team-mate Wulf.

The last time Wulf played for the All Blacks was in 2008. He was selected in the squad last year, but had to withdraw because of injury. Wulf will play for North Harbour in the New Zealand Cup before moving to France after the competition.

    @rangerman(rangerman)-3: you’re right, but it’s no good for NH rugby either, not on a national level.

    Do the French have a qouta for internationals playing for individual clubs? I know the UK does. (save Saracens)

    No they don’t. They don’t have salary caps either.

    @Big Hit(Big Hit)-2: it’s crazy! There’s no point in being obstinate & saying “well being as all black should be sacred and something that one is honoured to achieve and those that can’t wait their turn, well good riddance to them”!

    That’s like the band that kept on playing as the Titanic sank…stupid muhf.ckaz…

    @David(David)-5:

    Wrong.

    No salary cap in force BUT the FRU have recently implemented a new policy that dictates how many foreigners allowed per team in coming years. Cant remember the details, when etc, but it is a step-up over next few years.

    @PaulLondon(PaulLondon)-10:
    Does the T14 treat the various clubs as seperate from their national bodies? Or is this something the French national body has agreed to for all its’ clubs?

  • 12.PaulLondon: Reply to this comment

    It is an FRU implememtation.Probally the reason why the clubs have been racing to secure signitures before the cap kicks in .

    I was under the impression that there is indeed a salary cap but if you can afford the fine then run as many comic-book heroes as you like ;)
