All Blacks happy with Etihad
Richie McCaw believes there should be no complaints about the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, the venue of the All Blacks’ Test against Australia on Saturday.
There were concerns about the ground ahead of the Tri-Nations clash as it is believed the surface is dangerous for footing because of regular AFL matches. However, All Blacks head coach Graham Henry was happy with the conditions. McCaw agreed.
‘I think it’s been a lot of talk about nothing much,’ the All Blacks captain told stuff.co.nz.
‘It’s obviously not the best I’ve played on but it’s going to be fine I think. There are grounds like that around and I think it will be good as gold. Two big forwards pushing a scrum might tear it up a little bit but I’m picking it to be OK.’

Pocock vs MC Caw …..
Gitreau will need to adapt quickly to 10.

Well there you have it ladies and gentlemen. Richie has said it’s ok therefore it has to be
.
I see Australia is bidding for 2022 Fifa World Cup. As marvellous a stadium the MCG is, I don’t think it is soccer friendly unless they bring in more seating and make the pitch square.

@Lions_Soutie(Lions_Soutie)-3: Melbourne really has the infrastructure in place with all the Stadiums.
Smoking hot game tomorrow night!!
July 30th, 2010 at 10:26 am
Thankfully, whatever controversy (and there is bound to be!) erupts after tommorrow’s game, will take the spotlight off The Boks for a while. Clutching at straws here I know, but one can only hope:))

@Lions_Soutie(Lions_Soutie)-3:
Melbourne has 8 stadiums that can hold over 20000 people,about 4 can hold over 40000. They have raceways that can be converted in time when needed and 3 of those hold over 40000 people.
Melbourne is the home of stadiums
July 30th, 2010 at 11:03 am
@Lions_Soutie(Lions_Soutie)-3: Stadium Australia (built for the 2000 Sydney Olympics) is the go. Not the MCG.
July 30th, 2010 at 11:05 am
Stadium Australia, Sydney hosted the largest crowd ever to watch a rugby test — 110 000 watching Oz vs NZ in 2002.

@Hurricane(Hurricane)-6: Never knew that. Only knew the Colonial and the MCG. Must have a large population to sustain them.@TheTackler(TheTackler)-7: Could have sworn I saw it as part of the bid(quite unmistakable). Only two new stadia will apparently need to be built.
Now when are Moses Mabida and Greenpoint going to host some test matches?
July 30th, 2010 at 1:22 pm
Close to 5m in both Sydney and Melbourne — bigger than CTN and JNB.
July 30th, 2010 at 1:32 pm
All Blacks to win comfortably.
Although I think Giteau at pivot, for this fixture, is a blessing in disguise.
July 30th, 2010 at 1:37 pm
@willievz(willievz)-12:
Yeah, I can’t understand Cardinellis comment on another thread that Giteau isn’t that successful in taking on the opposing defence.

@grant10(grant10)-1: the most boring fixture in world rugby, next to Italy/Scotland.
July 30th, 2010 at 8:49 pm
@Big Hit(Big Hit)-15: you meant to say england/Italy
July 30th, 2010 at 11:28 pm
@Big Hit(Big Hit)-15: Cheetahs v Force. YAWN!!!
July 30th, 2010 at 11:40 pm
@TheTackler(TheTackler)-11: 4 million is hardly close to 5 million and greater Jo’burg has 7 million people.
July 30th, 2010 at 11:48 pm
@TheTackler(TheTackler)-11: Victoria state has just under 5 million people of which 70% live in Melbourne
Talking kak again, I see
July 30th, 2010 at 11:52 pm
@clayfin(clayfin)-16: Eng/Ita is generally ok, if you’d said Eng/Arg you might have a point. Aus/NZ isn’t that bad a fixture but 4 times a year has killed almost every joy from this meeting, it’s like watching the same game on auto-repeat. Roll on 4N.
July 30th, 2010 at 11:58 pm
@JL1(JL1)-19:
We all talk K@k dont we JL1,some just dont believe they do but seem to be fast at pointing out when others are.
July 31st, 2010 at 12:00 am
@Big Hit(Big Hit)-20:
Yep to true BH.
4N will be revive a very same ole same ole tournament. Not saying the rugby in the 3N was every boring cos 95% of the time its not.
July 31st, 2010 at 12:18 am
@Big Hit(Big Hit)-20:
yeah, roll on 4N. Preferably get a PI team involved too for a 5N and each PI island-Nation getting a home game. Watch tourism boom, stadiums get built in Apia, Suva and Nukualofa, roads built, home players rewarded and crazy crowds. Home and away, ending in a straight Final.
It will be the ultimate non-RWC tournament, bar none.

@Hurricane(Hurricane)-21: Your introspection and honesty about yourself and especially coming from a Kiwi ,is like a breath of fresh air
July 31st, 2010 at 9:04 am
90% of Pacific Islanders already playing in the Tri-nations so an Argentinean flavour would be a welcome change to break the monotony of the bland Australasian games..
July 31st, 2010 at 11:20 am
@JL1(JL1)-24:
Especially coming from a Kiwi??
Do you hate Kiwis?
@Great White Shark(Predawn)-25:
Yeah,they beat SA in most 3N,amazing really on the population difference. You really need to lift your game.
