Bulls’ Boks back
Frans Ludeke has included Zane Kirchner, Wynand Olivier and Dewald Potgieter in his team to face the Pumas in Nelspruit.
The discarded Bok trio were immediately recalled to the Bulls side, with Potgieter playing at No 8. Ludeke has also opted to try out his second-string halfback combination.

Lions change four
John Mitchell has opted for rotation and has been forced to rule out a couple of injured players for their match against the Leopards.
Deon van Rensburg and Derick Minnie will sit out, although the latter is bracketed on the bench if he recovers from his injury. Ross Geldenhuys also faces a late fitness test.
George Earle and Edgar Marutlulle drop to the bench, with Johan Snyman and Martin Bezuidenhout taking their places for the match in Jo’burg.

Bulls hope for Bok boost
Zane Kirchner, Dewald Potgieter and Wynand Olivier might feature for the Bulls in their clash against the Pumas this Friday.
Kirchner was sidelined with a knee injury last week but returned to Bulls training on Monday. Potgieter, who was struggling with a neck injury, and Olivier also didn’t feature for the Boks or Bulls last weekend and will train at Loftus on Tuesday if they are released by the Boks.
Bulls head coach Frans Ludeke hopes to have all three players available for selection this weekend.
‘We hope to get clarity on Wynand on Tuesday, but I’m delighted with the news that Pottie will be able to play. It’s important that he does not experience any pain and we will therefore give him the chance to recover,’ said Ludeke.

I think Wynand will be released. Juan de Jongh had a good game last week and deserves to atleast be on the bench.

Me and some friends had a chat lastnight over a beer
Now these youngsters that’s keeping the CC intresting and alive will there be place for them when all the boks come back from 3N duty. These guys play there hearts out than all of a sudden the boks come back and they have to make way. So i don’t think it’s fair that the boks come back and play CC rugby. Why can’t they sit out and take a break from rugby. Let these youngster play all out and prove them self. The CC will be much more intresting to see how these guys cope in South Africa’s toughest rugby compitition. So i would say keep the boks out of the CC and let the youngsters play untill the end.

No guys, if the Boks are not competing, it will no longer be the toughest comp in the world anymore. Its already a de-watered version of what it used to be with the TN interfering.

Boks have to be rested during the CC. ALL senior Boks HAVE to rest. Only just a few should be allowed to play. Bakkies as he has just about had no game time this year. Juan had a long lay off maybe he could come back too. Kanko as he is mostly on the bench. Otherwise just let the youngsters keep playing CC.

@UnbeataBULL(UnbeataBULL)-7: Senior Boks are out on their feet now, why must the not rest during the CC? They HAVE too, otherwise some serious injury will be coming they are dead tired. NO none of the seniors must play, actually none that have played non-stop since the S14 and now the Tri-Nations. That means the likes of Aplon also needs a rest. Body can take just so much before it breaks down.

@UnbeataBULL(UnbeataBULL)-7: Very typical Bulls sentiment. The needs of the Bulls comes before the needs of the Springboks, ala Fourie du Preez…
Without their Springboks, the Bulls really do not look very likely to be contenders for the Currie Cup, so they are desperate to get them back. WP and Sharks look pretty good without their Springboks though…
@UnbeataBULL(UnbeataBULL)-11: Mind you, the way some of the Bulls players are playing you are welcome to take them back.

@UnbeataBULL(UnbeataBULL)-11: I agree, both the Bulls and WP would be a lot better with their Springboks.
But, I also firmly believe that part of the Sharks demise in last years closing phases of the Currie Cup was due to the affect on continuity that the immediate inclusion of the Springboks had.
If the Sharks had lost to a full strength Bulls or WP side in the semi, I wouldnt neccessarily believe this but for the Nr 1 team on the log to lose to the Cheetahs who mathematically snuck into the semis makes me think the Sharks Boks actually disrupted the team.
Pieter De Villiers has already said that for this years Currie Cup, there will be a group of 20 or so that will not be released to their unions unfortunately.

@lepel(lepel)-12: Not a completely fair statement.
WP have a lot of Boks out – this I acknowledge, and they have done very well without them, but;
The Sharks only have 3 Springboks out currently – ok, and a few injuries. Sorry to say, but after this last weekends game (Sharks vs. WP), one can see the difference it makes.
And I suspect the Bulls are due for a hiding at Loftus against the Sharks, which wouldnt be the case if the Bulls were at full strength.
So, there is an argument for fairness here.
The Bulls would be a totally different team with all their Boks back, specifically if they could have Fourie Du Preez and Morne Steyn. So – I get UnbeataBULL’s point.

The Springboks will also be a better side if some of the passengers from the Bulls played CC
