Faingaa banned

Saia Faingaa has copped a two-match suspension for a dangerous tackle in Saturday’s Test between the Wallabies and Springboks.

The replacement hooker spike tackled Flip van der Merwe in the 69th minute, an action that earned the player a yellow card. Faingaa was subsequently cited by Sanzar Citing Commissioner Steve Hinds.

Faingaa appeared before Judicial Officer Nigel Frampton on Sunday and pleaded guilty. Frampton regarded the tackle as reckless rather than intentional, while Faingaa’s guilty plea, his expression of remorse and otherwise impeccable record was taken into account in passing sentence.

He will be suspended from all rugby until September 19.

Man Of the Match performance… thank you Fingers!

If there is any consistency he’ll be off for a few weeks. I don’t think any of the so-called spear tackles in this year’s Trinations has warranted suspensions but there needs to be an evenhanded approach to all players.

Silly bugga could have pulled out but the dope kept going. It was clear Flip was going to ground, Rocky was there the assist/pilfer… so the brainfart will get him 2 deserved weeks.

He has performed this year remarkably well and will learn from the experience Mr Deans has afforded him.

Keo’s log has the Wallabies with only 1 bonus point. They scored 4 tries in the first half hour this weekend and they did the same a week earlier. That makes in two bonus points earned in the last fortnight alone. That log is wrong.

to be honest i felt he is unlucky to be banned as he isnt a dirty player and the tackler wasnt to bad i thought the yellow was enough

u wont often hear me stick up for a convict

but an aussie being banned is insane as they get away with murder

@goyougoodthing2(goyougoodthing2)-9: We might need him, The scary reality for both of us is how good the AB’s are at the moment, its not to say our teams are bad, we still could thrash most other teams in the world but up against the men in black, thats a different story,

Aus is lucky as we have two more games against our traditional rivals, more time to test ourselves against the undisputed best, then we tour the North

@wallabie.(wallabie.)-18: Jaa I saw that as well , it was not different from the shoulder charge on De Jongh by Franks a few weeks prior though.

  • 30.sparticus: Reply to this comment

I thought Smit had a very good game yesterday , he hardly looked out of steam like previously , maybe the knowledge that he only needs to go for 60 mins meant that he did not need to hold back ? anyway , a rest would do him well , once again we saw his value as a leader yesterday , Aussies scored all their points when he went off , coincidence ? He just needs to be that captain throughout the game cos he certainly was not in the first half !

I hope the anti Smit Brigade would shut up now , their continual attack on a man who has bled and sacrificed so much for his country is disgusting , Its one thing to be critical of the man but to attack him week in and week out like that is cowardice and reeks of small d i c k syndrome.Next year he will lead us into the WC with distinction and they can all disappear.

Smit can rest and get into shape but can Bissy control his aggression ? Get better hands ? Lead the Boks ? Not give away penalties ?

I’m not having a “go” at your language here (cos if your 1st language isn’t English, then your English is 100x better than my Afrikaans), but whatever way you look at you’re right!

“Soul” – yes, they really do need to take a good hard look at what they are each bringing to the team (as John Smit himself is reported as saying).

“Sole” – yes, they need a good kick up the backside

“Sole” – yes, a spot of fishing is probably what many of them need! :-)

    @sparticus(sparticus)-33:

    Agreed.

Bissy would be one of my 3 hookers at the WC. He’s fantastic in the loose – when he’s not giving away penalties or succumbing to the red mist and trying to take off someone’s head after the whistle’s gone. Much in the same mould as Bakkie, he is. As for his scrummaging – slightly suspect there, too. Long back, easier for opposition hookers to get under him.
