Saru plan PdV review process

Saru will undertake their annual review of the Springboks’ Tri-Nations performances and Peter de Villiers’ comments in the media.

The review will take place later this month and covers all aspects of the Boks and De Villiers’ performances. Saru president Regan Hoskins said that there will also be formal discussions regarding De Villiers’ comments that the Boks supported murder accused Bees Roux 100%.

In an attempt to clean up De Villiers’ mess, Hoskins said that he had written a letter to the family of dead policeman Johannes Mogale to show the union’s support and send their condolences.

‘All rugby followers are extremely disappointed with results in the Tri-Nations, as are the Springbok team and management, of course,’ said Hoskins. ‘We take the situation very seriously but there is a process in place and we will follow that through.’

Saru won’t comment further until the review is complete.

I tell you what happened; PDivvy got a stay of execution from the master clowns at saru. This may be excellent news for PDivvy but is terrible news for the Boks and the Bok supporters.

Not only do we have to sit up with more clueless team selections played by a team without any semblance of a plan and poor substitutions along the way but PDivvie will also get a ‘final’ warning (and I use that term loosely as he will never be fired!) which means that instead of resting players for the EOYT he will again be ‘forced’ to select the only players he really can.

Expect to see the majority of the players from last Saturday to run out for the first test in November…

Aish Kesbok, you making the same old mistake many before you have made…you implying that the people at saru can actually think AND make plans

At the end of the day the people that got him the job in the first place will not allow him to be fired.

In fantasy world maybe the following names can be put in the hat:

    Allister Coetzee
    Heyneke Meyer
    Rassie
    Jake
Maybe Ed the Lip to make up the numbers.

The likelihood of one making it is probably in the same order as above…

And my choice, any one but PDivvie…my old high school has some decent coaches!

You know what? I think you are wrong. At this point in time (not in general I might add) a foreign coach may in fact be the BEST thing for SA Rugby. Precisely BECAUSE he wouldn’t understand or care about the political quota thing. And if he was strong enough, would ignore it. he would be protected from the racisim thing BECAUSE he wouldn’t have the whole historical baggage. Tell you who would be a great coach for SA…Buck Shelford. Absolutely loved by the NZ public, but hated by the NZRU because of personality issues.

He has possibly the greatest winning record of any NZ captain, and has the “tough as nails” kind of persona that any Boer would respect…hell, getting a nut ripped out during a game, getting it stiched back in then going back to continue playing….thats tough.

I think he would neutralise the politics that is having such a detrimental effect on your Rugby.

In saying that, NOT till AFTER next years WC thankyou. Keep PdV for now!

@kesbok(kesbok)-100: Heyneke Meyer plus 4 others

  • 105.kesbok: Reply to this comment

104 – Meyer is a great coach but I doubt he will want to coach the Boks they way other want them coached.

If i were to go for a off shore coach, John Mitchell is helping out at the Lions (I think) – give him a call. Where is Louis Luyt when you need him???!

    @kesbok(kesbok)-105:

Mitchell is an enigma, if you get him, sign him for max two years. After that it is downhill all the way…

  • 107.kesbok: Reply to this comment

i would take chances with Mitchell – good coach and would like the SA Rugby culture. I can see why Mitchell fell out of favour with some of the Aussie players at the Force but in SA it would be OK.

Academic – it will never happen.

Mitchell is not a YESMAN -

    @kesbok(kesbok)-108:
I kinda do wish they would get Mitchell, but mate, your players would revolt.

The typical SA rugby player is a very large, very strong man who over powers their opponents…its brawn rather than brains. And to be fair, it generaly works very very well.

Given that, I don’t suppose there are too many “thinkers” in the majority of SA trams, certainly not in the packs anyway. Mitchells methods would confuse these players….and the ones who could follow his logic…well, Mitchell would get rid of them…Christian Cullen QED.

    But good luck with that.

I happen to think that Pieter DeVile rs is a great coach for the springbok team.
What other coach can do what he has done for the national side, with the RWC just a year away and players looking worse for wear should bode well for the Kiwi supporters at the very least.
Also, as Keo pointed out, with the climax of the Boks Tri-Nations no longer in doubt, we can all concerntrate on the quality of players in the currie cup, well at least the 0zzies will (they still need players for the Melbourne side) and I guess some of the NZ sides will have a go (since none of the CC players will be picked for the Boks) at picking up a few promising guys.
This should all work out well for the SARU, I feel that perhaps you will soon be fielding only a national football (roundball) side (perhaps this is what really is behind the current political endeavours) the erosion of “white” rule Rugby…..

Another thing we should keep in mind, is the inclusion of Argentina 2012, with the Boks current team, Argentina will win at least a few games immediately, this will be great for the competition.
So, all in all, I would have to say, things just couldnt be any better and I feel the majority would agree with me.

Possibly not feeling that pain so much as the pain from 4 teeth that were kicked out during the same incident…or the concussion from the boot to the head…again the same incident.

This is a brilliant plan on the part of PDV……….

I dont know why I didnt think of it before, PDV is just amazing lolling the world into a false sense of security, having the BOKS play really badly one year into the RWC and then slamming another RWC crown (talk about your conspiracy theory).
This is the absolute in deception, Wow………!!!!

PDV is without doubt, the best ever Rugby coach since 0zzie Jones…
Perhaps he will even throw the grand slam attempt in the NH, this is a master plan, second to none….well done Saffers!!!.

@k1w1in0z(k1w1in0z)-112: I dont know where you get that the boks are playing really badly. They are just a tad off the pace ;) With the right conditioning, their big men will be human wrecking balls.

The EOYT will be a wee problem for PDV, the balancing of a few older heads guiding a new young crop will not be without detractors. This approach should not be frowned upon, this is the time to bring on the mud-runners. New Zealand is not renown for fast pitches and the EOYT is the perfect pre-cursor to develop the depth required for the World Cup.

Tis ok Rulz, kiwi is just enjoying the moment as it never last…he can make as much fun as he wants but the wheel turns.

As for the end of year and PDivvie, if, and nothing to suggest otherwise, he is still around he will be in a very difficult situation. He may well have an ultimatum that he should perform or else… That being the case he will not select any young and untested.

Ah yes, and congrats with the win. The happiness on the faces of the Wobblies after the final whistle surely gave you an almost teary eye… If not for his ears I think Beale’s smile would have gone right round his head!

@Slartibartfast(Slartibartfast)-116: I honestly do not get the Kiwi sentiment. Big deal they are top of the pile, good luck to them.

Taking the core of the current team and as many newbs as possible is smart in my opinion. He can have the luxury of rotating his stars, stacking his bench to save the day if they are needed. It is the only way to have his cake and to eat it ;)

May unearth a 10… this is needed, far too much emphasis sits on Morne. We had the same problem with a far more talented 10, Stephen Larkham.

i don’t get why some here are questioning Mitchell’s commitment to transformation  the man has 3 quotas every starting match: elton janties, waylon murray & edgar marutlulle.

Ive still yet to read ONE Kiwi convert TriN’10 victory in to RWC’11 glory – show me where !

I have, on the other hand, PLENTY of Safas here who predicted that the Boks “WILL win RWC’11″ purely on the back of S14 domination this year. Super-rugby, FFS.

Get those forensic researchers at Transformation HQ busy and dig out the “Kiwi will win RWC’11″, because my reply would be easier than going fishing for salmon in a barrel with a shotgun.

    and you know it.

Fair point. However, are you now also saying you havent made these allegations ? Poppa has merely been giving you guys a bit of what-for after 12mths of insufferable Safa gloating, and apparently this is translated in to Kiwis thinking the RWC is already theirs. Or are you now denying youve said this ?

Because you know I may have been a bit hasty at 131, but the content is bang-on.
