Boishaai edge Paul Roos

Paarl Boys High won the battle of the Western Cape giants – but only just.

Boishaai were expected to win comfortably against Paul Roos, who have experienced one of their less dominant local seasons, but the visitors finally produced the kind of display consistent with their local and national standing.

They lost 20-18 but were centimetres away from sharing the result after replacement flyhalf Kyle Leibrandt hit the upright with a conversion attempt.

Poor goalkicking proved costly for Paul Roos who outscored the hosts by three tries to two. The match featured 13 of the Western Province Craven Week side and lived up to its billing as the feature match of the weekend.

In other matches Bishops won easily against Wynberg 35-14, Tygerberg hammered Monument Park 66-5, Paarl Gym impressed against Boland Landbou 27-10, Drostdy beat Rondebosch Boys High 17-7 and SACS came from 12-5 down to beat De Kuilen 20-19. Durbanville were also too strong for Bellville High, winning 29-12.
