Waratahs whip Samoa
10 Feb 2012
The Waratahs beat Samoa 83-5 on Friday in spite of testing weather conditions in Tamworth.
The driving rain, which according to some reports hit the players at a right angle, did little to inhibit the Waratahs in their first hit-out of the season. Using an extended squad against a weakened Samoa outfit, they ran in 13 tries in all.
Former Cheetahs scrumhalf Sarel Pretorius enjoyed a good first outing even though he failed to get on the scoresheet. Hooker Damien Fitzpatrick scored a hat-trick of tries while centre Tom Carter grabbed a brace.

Why did the Stormers not buy him? It still fcks me off. He would have made all the difference to their attack. I predict scoring impotence to continue in the Cape.

Samoa came perilously close to toppling the Boks in RWC2011. And they’re smoked by an Aussie provincial franchise…
