Brits’ future to be discussed with Erasmus
Schalk Brits who retired from all professional rugby last month at 37 years of age was lured back into the Bok set up by Rassie Erasmus to bolster the hooker stocks. Yet his future remains undecided.
Brits told Network 24 that he will have a chat to Rassie Erasmus this week about his future.
The hooker had planned to further his studies at the University of Cambridge and is also set to begin working at investment company Reinet in August. However Reinet Investment, with Johan Rupert as their executive chairperson are willing to allow Brits the opportunity to start with them at a later stage should he plan to play in next year’s Rugby World Cup.
This decision would have to be made in tandem with Erasmus who has expressed openly that he has “no doubts” about Brits’ fitness levels.
Brits ended his club career at Saracens with a 27-10 Aviva premiership win over Exeter Chiefs in the final.
Prior to his 9 seasons at the Saracens (where he won four Premiership titles and two European Rugby Champions Cups), he spent time at both the lions and Stormers.
