Injury blow for England ahead of Boks

England’s enforcer Courtney Lawes has been forced to leave their  training camp and will most likely not be available for Saturday’s clash against the Springboks.

Lawes first complained about a back injury on October 6th, locking down for Northampton Saints. He subsequently was out of action for two weeks and then returned for his side’s victory over the Dragons last weekend.

England’s forwards coach Steve Borthwick has now confirmed that the lock will be returning from their training camp in Portugal, saying to Sky Sports, “Courtney Lawes will return to England today for specialist treatment on a pre-existing back injury.”

“He is expected to return to Portugal early next week. He has taken part in modified training this week.”

Other English lock Joe Launchbury will also not be available for Eddie Jones to select.
