John Dobson replaces Robbie Fleck as Stormers coach
The Stormers confirmed late on Tuesday evening that John Dobson will be taking over the reins from Robbie Fleck as head of the Cape franchise for the 2019 Super Rugby season
Fleck however, will still be playing a vital role in the transition as both Dobson and himself have been working in tandem with Western Province Rugby Group CEO Paul Zacks and High Performance manager Greg Hechter to build the strongest squad possible for 2020 season and further.
“In addition to ensuring the Stormers’ success on the field, one of Dobson’s key focus areas will be driving transformation in the Stormers’ future coaching and management teams,” said Zacks. He goes on to explain, “There is a clear succession and development plan now in place and the opportunities created within the new structure will put us in a stronger position going forward.”
Confirmation was also made of Director of Rugby Gert Smal’s departure. Small leaves for Toyota Verblitz at the end of March.
