Lions sweat over Kwagga’s fitness
The Lions, missing back row combination of Warren Whiteley and Cyle Brink, now worry over the fitness of star loose forward Kwagga Smith.
The sweat comes over a potential groin injury, that could see a damaging loss of experience, as Smith has been operating as the most experienced lose forward in the Lion’s pack, among Hacjivah Dayimani and Vincent Tshituka.
An injury to Smith ahead of his side’s travel would see a complete back row reshuffle as it seems likely that Tshituka is to be ruled out of the trip to the Sunwolves’ territory, having suffered an ankle injury and a knock to the head.
While a fitness update will be posted on Smith and Tshituka, Brink (who has been out since August last year) is set only to return in a week, while Whiteley should be fit for the Lions tour to New Zealand in four weeks’ time.
The Lions face the Sunwolves this weekend in Singapore.
