Jaguares triumph ‘spectacular’, says victorious Quesada
Gonzalo Quesada led the Jaguares into the Super Rugby final with a dominant triumph over the Brumbies.
Jaguares coach Gonzalo Quesada lauded his side’s “spectacular” achievement in reaching the Super Rugby final.
The Argentines, competing in only their fourth campaign, will have a shot at securing the title against reigning champions Crusaders after thrashing the Brumbies 39-7 in Buenos Aires.
A delighted Quesada recognises the Jaguares now stand on the brink of history.
“The result is spectacular and I believe that we are on the right track with respect to our objectives and, in some way, with respect to the dream we set ourselves on the first day,” he said.
“I do not remember seeing a stadium like it was since I was very young, and that gives me great joy at the fact that people identify with the team.”

Quesada is now braced for a tough final test against the team who won the 2017 and 2018 editions and finished top of this year’s regular-season standings.
“Chiefs [in the quarter-finals] was a tough test, Brumbies was one more step and surely the next one will be even harder,” he said.
“[The success of] Crusaders is based on a great achievement from the scrum and a very solid defence.
“We have been working very hard in those aspects because it is what allows us to reach the try line and be able to score as we did here.”
