Springboks’ statistical shocker
The Springboks have scored one try and conceded 23 in 240 minutes of Test rugby against the All Blacks.
The Boks, in Allister Coetzee’s tenure, have lost 48-13, 57-15 and 57-0 to the world champion All Blacks.
They have only managed a lone Bryan Habana try and conceded 23 over the three Tests, with the breakdown being six, nine and eight.
The 57-15 defeat of 2016 was the biggest in the history of clashes between rugby’s great southern hemisphere rivals. Saturday’s 57-0 shut out established a new record.
The All Blacks, since 2000, have won 30 from 40 Tests against the Springboks and Saturday’s victory was their 10th in the last 11 against the Boks.
Coetzee’s predecessor Heyneke Meyer won one from eight against Steve Hansen’s All Blacks, but the average score was 27-18 to the New Zealanders.
Hansen’s All Blacks, in three Tests, have an average score of 54-9 against Coetzee’s Springboks.
