Brits banned for four matches after Van der Merwe fight
The Bulls will be without hooker Schalk Brits until May 10 after he was banned for four weeks by SANZAAR.
Schalk Brits will miss the Bulls’ next four Super Rugby matches after being suspended by SANZAAR following his brawl with Armand van der Merwe on Saturday.
The South African duo were sent off after their altercation in the 58th minute as Brits’ Bulls secured a 19-16 win over the Sharks at Kings Park.
On Monday, Van der Merwe was banned for three weeks but Brits has been handed a lengthier ban after being found to have “contacted the opposing player’s head with more than one punch”.
Brits will miss matches against the Jaguares, the Reds, the Stormers and the Waratahs. He will be eligible for selection when the Bulls host the Crusaders on May 10.
